Say NO to commercial Marlin & reef fishing in our waters ‼️

The Government is at it again.

The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries is pushing ahead with proposals to open up some of our most valued recreational species for commercial sale – including marlin and 19 reef fish species like red moki and boarfish.

They call it “removing redundant regulations.” We call it selling off what’s left of our public fishery.

These fish have always been off limits to commercial harvest for a reason. They’re vulnerable, slow-growing, and already under pressure. Allowing commercial sale would open the door to deliberate targeting - something Kiwis have rejected before.

Back in 2013, the public rallied behind LegaSea’s Hands Off Our Marlin campaign. Within three days, the Minister backed down. The message was clear: our fish are not for sale.

Now it’s time to do it all again.

We’ve built a quick and easy submission form so you can tell the Minister to leave marlin and reef fish off the menu.

Right now, 1 in 2 LGBTQIA+ people will experience mental illness in their lifetime. Too many still face stigma, discrimination, and barriers to safe support. All living beings have a right to feel safe & cared for.
Personally I have felt this stigma & it negatively affected my life a lot when I was younger.

This October, my doggo and I are putting our paws to the pavement—walking together for Pride Unleashed—to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.

Please I personally ask you to help Helen & the Care team ❤️ By volunteering in the opshop you are saving the lives of so many dogs & cats. The money the shop makes is important & is the difference between saving animals or not!!!!
Please Please volunteer. It might not be the work you want BUT it might be just what you need. Please help ❤️

We are very close to having no other option but to close the CARE Op Shop for some parts of the day due to a lack of volunteers. This will impact the services that CARE provides.

Please txt or call me if you can spare 3hrs once a week. Helen 027 2225776 or call into the CARE Op Shop (34 Nukuhau st) & complete a VOLUNTEER FORM.
Lots of roles to choose from, you will meet new people, perhaps learn new skills and have some fun along the way, most importantly you'll be supporting a great cause, including....

1. Our Regions only NO KILL Rescue
2. The only local Rescue providing emergency support 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year.
3. Our Euthanise rate is 'World Class' at just 1%.
4. All of our animals are cared for by local families, which is the best place to heal & recover.
5. Our Canines are adopted straight from foster.
6. Our cats & kittens transfer into the CARE Cattery once they are ready to he adopted.
7. Every Animal is treated as an individual and given the best chance of a great life.
8. We provide invaluable support & Education within our community.
