💔 Today two tiny puppies were found abandoned near the bridge by the Okara Marina construction site on Port Road by some workers.
Heartbreakingly, some of their littermates were seen floating in the water after likely being thrown off the bridge 😭
Thanks to Rachel and Tamra, the surviving pups were brought to us down the road for a check up to make sure they were okay. The two pups are thankfully healthy and don'ts appear affected by this ordeal and are now safe and being fostered by these wonderful ladies. We have given the pups their first vacc and a wormer to give them the best start 🐾
The Best Dog Trust has also kindly donated 20kg of puppy food to help them along - we are so grateful for this support!
Stories like this are not rare - and it’s exactly why desexing is so critical. As Patrick Gower has recently highlighted, roaming and unwanted dogs are a major issue in NZ. Too many litters end up abandoned, neglected, or worse - like this lot.
