Jumbo wanted to pop on and thank you for all the support and let you know that he is recovering well from his big dental op yesterday.
Tonight he got a winter coat. Likely to be the first time ever wearing one, and he rocked it.
I think he looks a bit like Sherlock, especially when you unfold the collar .

Lets talk about how critical it is to have your dog's teeth checked by your vet on a regular basis. Have you ever had toothache? Now image that with teeth that are 4 times the size of yours, and you can't tell anyone how much pain you are in. Then think about the cost.
The last 3 Hospice dogs I have taken in were known to rarely/never seen a vet and all have required extensive dental work to ensure their final stage of life is not one of pain. This has cost $2000 - $7000 and could not have been achieved without the donations from my supporters.
Get them checked yearly (even if sedation is required) small issues are way cheaper than big issues.

Good morning from Jumbo.
Here's a photo of one of his favorite things - to stare at me looking perpetually confused (probably some doggy dementia going on).
Jumbo has had a rough weekend.
He required an emergency trip to the vet yesterday as he suddenly started to show symptoms of severe mouth pain.
Oh dear, he has a massive blown out abscess on his upper incisor tooth so needs major dental work this week.
As this is likely to be around $2000, and due to my injury I haven't been able to work for 3 months. So, I will be listing some of my excess dog items for sale later today.
They are quality items with little or no use.
I know I have lots of great supporters and followers so hopefully I'll have something for you.

Edna Update.
Edna is doing sooo well, bless her sweet soul. She has recovered from her respiratory infection and her skin condition is slowly improving with regular treatment. She has also had a blood test which has confirmed she is indeed spayed.
Although I have worked in rescue for nearly 4 decades, it still saddens me when there is an elderly dog that for some reason made it to this age and then was homeless. While her circumstances are unknown as to why she ended up alone, Edna has clearly once been a beloved pet. She knows lots of commands, loves the car and cuddles.
I am so grateful for those donors who have supported my Hospice Program so dogs like Boss, Seed, Jumbo and Edna have a safe, loving place to spend their last days/months/years.
In regards to my training work - my hand is finally on the mend and I am starting to be able to begin use of it again. I am hoping to be open for business again by the end of the month. It's been a very long 3 months! Definitely do not recommend tendon injuries 🫣😣

Edna

Such a sweet girl, she is starting to ask for cuddles now and loves a squeaky toy, although nothing is as good as food 🍗🍖🦴🫗🥚🥓

It's all official. 🥰🥰
Allow me to introduce you to the lovely Edna.
Sometimes it really does take a village and lots of people pulled together to enable Edna to live me with under my Hospice program.
Many, many thanks to Auckland Council, The Dog Rescue Project, and Paws - Restart for doing the legwork to get Edna out, into temporary foster and now up to me.
We know virtually nothing about Edna other than she is definitely on the older side of life.
She has basic obedience and manners.
Currently Edna is requiring veterinary treatment for several health problems - and can I say, Edna was brilliant at the vets.
Decompression, building a strong sense of safety and trust along with a positive relationship is my main focus for the next several weeks (along with her physical health needs)
Stand by for some videos of Edna getting acclimated shortly.

Many of you may recognise the lovely Edna, ending up in the Council Shelter recently. A lovely old girl who deserved to live out the rest of her life.

Edna came into our rescue thanks to the support and trust of Auckland Council, who gave us the opportunity to help her find the second chance she deserved. From there, we worked alongside the incredible team at Paws Restart, who just happened to have the perfect home waiting for a dog exactly like Edna.

And just like that, Edna skipped straight into her forever life, living her absolute best life from day one. 🐾

A huge thank you to Auckland Council Adoptable Animals for continuing to trust our team to find the very best homes for their dogs, and to Paws - Restart for always being amazing to work with.

When good people come together for dogs, lives are changed forever. ❤️
