𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟/𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 🐶👨‍⚕️𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀! Canine cough is transmitted through dog-to-dog contact by sniffing and coughing, sharing of food and water bowls, and toys.

The time from exposure to coughing can be 2 to 14 days. Dogs in kennels, doggie day-care, training classes, group dog walks or those that spend time at parks and beaches where dogs socialise may have an increased risk of exposure.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆:
👨‍⚕️ A harsh, hacking cough that most people describe like “something stuck in my dog’s throat” or a “goose honk.”
👨‍⚕️ Your dog may appear to be retching and swallowing
👨‍⚕️ The cough can be productive, often with the production of foamy mucus (which may be confused with vomiting).
👨‍⚕️ Dogs may develop a discharge from their nose or eyes.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR OUR DOG SHELTER IN OTAKI...

We need volunteers to help us love these very special dogs and puppies at our Dog shelter.

Morning shifts available starting at 8am (we can be flexible)
It is hard work but extremely rewarding and after the dirty smelly cleaning is done there is a shelter full of furry love to cuddle, walk and spend time with.

Most days available, weekly or fortnightly.
You will join a hard working dedicated team of volunteers that love the dogs and are committed to helping and caring for the many dogs that come into our care.

Flexibility to travel to the new site on the Haywards Hill would be great too! - We cannot wait!
