🩸 Is pre-anaesthetic blood testing really necessary?🩸

It’s a common question — and one we're happy to answer!

The short answer? Yes — it helps us keep your pet as safe as possible.

Even when your pet seems perfectly healthy, blood testing gives us valuable insight into what’s happening beneath the surface.

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Pre-anaesthetic blood testing allows us to:

🫀 Assess liver and kidney function

🩸 Check red and white blood cell levels

🔎 Detect hidden health issues not obvious on physical exam

🐾 Evaluate your pet's anaethetic risk

💊 Tailor medications and anaesthetic plans

🩻 Identify if further imaging (like x-rays or ultrasound) may help

📈 Establish a baseline for future health comparisons

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

❓ “What if the results come back normal?

That’s great news! 🎉

Normal results provide reassurance and help us proceed with confidence. While further tests may still be recommended, normal bloodwork remains a valuable part of your pet's overall assessment.

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

❤️ Our priority is always the same:

Providing the safest, highest standard of care for your furry family members.🐾

Have questions about pre-anaesthetic blood testing? Feel free to chat with our team. We're always happy to help!

Discussion Group Success!

A great day had last Friday. Farmers, vets, and suppliers in our community came together to enjoy some fine weather, end of season catch ups, lunch, and tips in preparation for early next season.

A big thanks to Shannon and Lily-Rose of Featherstone Farming for hosting.

Great to have Halter, SMASH, NutriTech, Michael Wickham, Rebecca Knyvett, Leah Wakeford, MSD, AgriHealth, SenseHub Dairy, and Dairy NZ supporting on the day. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with our local farming community.

If you were not able to attend, or have any questions about early season management, please give the team at the clinic a call.

Have a wonderful break, and looking forward to the next one.
