Five of our cats have found that as snuggly as the CPW shelter is with all the sofas and heatpumps – it’s not the same as a cosy home of your own! Read on for their happy homing stories!
Our shy, gentle giant Lou (eight) was brought to the CPW shelter when his person moved and couldn’t take Lou with him. With a history of stress cystitis, he needed a calm, responsible home where his sweet nature would be appreciated. He has been fostered by a lovely older gentleman in a sunny, coastal home, who was feeling a bit lost after losing his elderly cat. They're looking forward to enjoying a nice sunny spot together in the afternoons. Lou will be able to settle down in the evening, watch TV and have a snooze before dinner, and then a snooze after dinner. There’s no such thing as too many cat naps.
Black tortie lady Shark (16) was surrendered to us when her owners moved overseas. She needed a quiet and safe indoor-outdoor space of her own, and someone to cuddle. She loves head and chin tickles, and dribbles when she’s really happy! She's now fostered with a lovely lady who works from home a lot and her son. They have a garden for Shark to explore once she's settled in, and have previously cared for a senior hyperthyroid cat so she’s in good hands. Shark really like them both, and she was sound asleep on the couch within an hour of reaching her new home.
Corby (12) is a chilled, cuddly boy who came to us after his busy household life became a bit too overwhelming with young children and a baby around. He needed a new home with more attention, a comfy sofa and someone to talk to all day. After we got him some dental care and had a benign lump on his shoulder removed, he went home with a lovely lady who patiently waited until Corby was recovered from his vet visits. She had originally come in to meet other cats but when she met Corby, she decided he was meant to be with her. He's off to start his new life.
Smudge (eight) is a sweet tabby and white girl whose person became unwell and couldn’t keep her. Initially a shy girl, she loves being patted, playing with toys, and exploring the outdoors. She was adopted only a week after arriving at the shelter, when she caught the eye of the young woman and her two flatmates. Smudge happily gave them headbutts and then hopped out of her cage to rub around their ankles. They took her home on the second visit, and she has a cosy area of her own with beds and a tower. They will have lots of couch time together watching TV this winter.
Spotty (15) came in when her people couldn’t find a pet-friendly rental. She is quite deaf and can’t hear her own (very loud) voice! She did not enjoy the presence of other cats in the shelter, so she became our office cat and would snooze curled up in her litter tray, completely ignoring the available chairs and cat bed! Spotty has been fostered by a vet nurse and her husband, with a safe home that backs onto bush to safely explore once she's settled in. We heard that on the first day she settled straight in, exploring the house, and rolling over for belly rubs.
