It's time to think about our fury friends that we have let hibernate all winter. Coats have got long & out of control? Thick winter undercoat is sitting waiting to come out?
The heat will be here before we know it & we don't want our dogs to suffer.

Spreading Awareness....
Pet owners don't realize they are loving their pets onto an early grave.....
Pet obesity can be an upsetting issue & if it upsets you maybe you need to keep reading.
Because I truly believe I have lived long enough & have experienced enough as a lifelong owner, breeder, Dog show enthusiast & Professional Groomer to know that any obese dog is not a healthy or a happy dog.
A large portion of dogs do not have a off button when it becomes to food so we need to step up & make the right nutritional decisions for them.
Factors to consider are breed type, are they small companion breed? or high energy working, sporting or herding breed?
What's the dogs lifestyle really like, are they a couch potato backyard landshark or very active involved with dog sports or taking daily 10km runs with the owner?
We need to feed accordingly. I'm sure we all want our pets to be here for a long time not just a good one so for DOGS sake stop killing them with kindness!!!..... its not our dogs fault it's fat, it's ours.

Just popping in to remind everyone of the importance of keeping your Dogs nails short. Our oldies need theirs checking too because a less active life doesn't mean our nails stop growing.
Long nails can cause pain & discomfort, unchecked nails can even curl & grow back into the dogs pads leading to possible infection & costly vet visits.

HANDSTRIPPING
The traditional way of grooming nearly all Terriers & many other coarse, wire, broken coated & sporting breeds. It is at times a misunderstood form/style/technique/art of grooming.
If you are working with the Correct coat type, using the correct techniques & tools it does not hurt the dog & it is not bad for the coat or skin.
Now not every handstrip breed MUST be handstripped. Incorrect coat type, the dogs age, skin condition, sensitivities, tolerances and of course owner preference are all reasons why some traditional stripped breeds are clipped.
Handstripping is a highly skilled practice & the price of the groom will reflect this.
So there is no right or wrong...To Strip or not to Strip is all up to the individual owner & the individual dog....I do find it hard to look past a beautifully stripped dog though ❤️

Dear possible new client, We need to have a chat....
Please be aware that any groomer that is a credit to the Grooming Industry is not sitting waiting for you to call.
We are already busy, we already have an exsiting client base & they are all on a regular rotation for their grooms.
So when you call us and ask for a booking & expect it to be tomorrow or even this week.
Pleased don't get offended or even angry at us when we inform you that our 1st availability is not for another 4 to 6 weeks. Unless we have a cancelation it is very rare that we can fit you in when you expect us to be able to.
We get quite hurt when people write us off because we can't fit them in yesterday........
Please plan ahead because we do look forward to meeting you & caring for your pet but please don't wait until the situation is dire before contacting us....this will help to avoid frustrations on both sides.

LETS TALK WINTER...
Myth: If I let my dogs coat grow long over winter it will be warmer
Reality: Your dog will be colder & suffer more if you do not maintain their coats over winter.
Reasoning: a long matted coat when it gets wet will stay damp & cold longer due to the air not being able to reach the skin because of the matting. Then due to friction from movement & licking matting becomes tighter & uncomfortable ( like having a very tight ponytail in 24/7)
Solution: keep to your regular schedule of 6-8 weeks professional groom, dry & brush out your dog properly when they do get wet to prevent matting & spoil your dog with a cozy bed or jacket this winter.
Being severely Matted is not pleasant for your dog & having to clip your dog off very short to prevent distress is not pleasant for us & will course you distress if you don't like your dog short.
