Coco update!!
Wowiee⭐️💖🤩 time has flowed by! Our coco is now back into light work and happy to do so!
She’s had a few gentle hacks along the river and of course her first appearance was our pony gym class.
Her scar from the surgery looks so nice and clean. Not once has she reacted to any touch or seemed uncomfortable throughout this road to recovery.
Again!! So many big thanks to all of you in our community that made her surgery and recovery so easy for us.💖🙌

Coco update!!!
Coco has had a fantastic recovery
Couldn’t be happier with how it has all worked out for us and her.
Stitches came out last Wednesday and this week Coco has been very happy going out in the paddock with her new friend Williow and her bestie Cleo.
Today she got clipped to match her up with the shaving that took place for surgery.
Next week she’ll be able to start some more walks and maybe a pony ride or two:)
She’s very unfazed by any touch around her scar and with some creams the scabs are almost also gone.

Coco update!!
So sorry it’s taken so long!!

To start off Coco was still very attached to her friend Cleo, Cleo had to go everywhere with her and stay close by her side… her hormones were obviously still playing havoc on her, poor girl.
Then as if someone flicked a switch, last Thursday, Coco stopped obsessing over Cleo and went back to her usual self, calm on her own and couldn’t care less about any other horses. Yay!!! We got our Coco back!!
Coco had a week of antibiotics after her surgery and have been tapering off her pain meds.
She still stays in yards or small areas so she doesn’t move around much.
Coco gets lots of hand held grazing time, a few treats and lots of pats every day.
Her stitches are coming out on Wednesday or Thursday and after that she can slowly start going out in a paddock.

Coco is home!!
So far her recovery has gone well.
She was keen to get on the float to get home and VERY keen to eat grass.
The next couple of weeks she’s on box rest and can do a little bit of hand grazing but is not to move around too much.

Coco update!!
Surgery went well!!! Phew 😅
It did take a little longer than expected because the o***y was very large…. The tumour and o***y was 16 cm in diameter and weighed 1.8kgs!!😳
Coco is recovery at Massey overnight and tomorrow morning we’ll hear if she’s ok to be picked up in the afternoon or if they would like to watch her another day.
She is now allowed to eat, so her life will find meaning again ☺️lol
Can’t wait to see her and bring her home!

Update on 💖Coco
Yesterday we took her to Massey for preparation for her surgery on Wednesday first of April.
Thank you all so so very much for all the lovely words and of course the $$$$!
We are so very grateful to all of you who have given through the givealittle page and also the cash that has been donated🙏
Looks like we’re almost at $5000 yay!!!🙌 (it’s still not tooo late to donate)
Coco traveled like a champ and was very delighted about the abundance of hay left for her to dive into! All loose!!:) (Not in tiny hole haynets)
She will now have 24 hours of fasting 😳!
However they did ensure us she would be getting some little treats here and there and molasses licks to keep her entertained.
We will keep you updated with how it goes tomorrow:)

Give a little for Coco!!

This is Coco.

Many of you already know her — the pony with the big heart who has quietly looked after what feels like half the children in our community.

She’s the steady one. The patient one. The pony who waits while tiny hands learn to hold the reins for the very first time. The one who gives nervous beginners the confidence to try. The one who gently carries riders with disabilities during therapy sessions. The one who plods along the river while riders chat, laugh, and fall in love with horses.

For so many children, their very first ride was on Coco.
Their first trot. Their first brave moment of “I did it.”

She has spent years giving confidence, independence, and joy to riders of all ages and abilities.

Recently, Coco was diagnosed with an ovarian tumour, and we are absolutely heartbroken. But we are committed to doing everything we can to give her the treatment she needs.

Her veterinary care and surgery to remove the tumour are expected to cost around $6,000, followed by around six weeks of recovery. The surgeon ensures us she will have a full recovery and be back to her normal self and have many, many more years with us.

As a not-for-profit organization, we will do everything possible for her — but we can’t do it alone. We’re asking the community who knows and loves Coco to help us give back to the pony who has given so much.

If Coco has ever led your child’s first ride, helped someone you love through therapy riding, or simply made you smile as she patiently carried another rider learning to believe in themselves, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.

Every donation, every share, and every kind message helps more than you know.

Coco is more than just a pony here.
She’s been a teacher, a confidence-builder, a quiet healer, and a friend to so many.

Now it’s our turn to be there for her.
