2026!
It's that time of year again! Our annual calendar competition starts today. 12 of our lovely client's pets will feature in our Maidstone Veterinary Clinic calendar 2026.
This year we've continued our Cover Model competition. Along side being the cover model for 2026, $100 professional services voucher is up for grabs and you can pick which month you'd like your pet to appear heading.

> How do I enter?
Simply send us a high quality image of your pet! MUST be in landscape or it will not be included. You can do this via Facebook messenger or email ([email protected]). All entries are welcomed and this year will not be grouped by species. Don't let the competition name fool you, four feet are not an entry requirement! From the small to the large, we want to see them all.
In your entry, please include your first and last names, and address (this is so we can find you on our computer system!).

> How are the winners selected?
Winners will be selected by the collective team at Maidstone Vets and notified by Saturday 19th July 2025.

> Are there any rules?
We have a few rules to keep the competition fair:
- ONE ENTRY per client, so chose your image wisely!
- You MUST be an existing Maidstone Veterinary Clinic client to enter.
- Clinic staff are NOT eligible to enter images.
- For printing purposes, the image must be of high quality and in landscape. ONLY landscape images will be accepted
- Valid entries will be accepted between the dates of 2nd July - midnight 11th July 2025.
- Any entries outside these dates and rules will not be accepted.

We can't wait to see all of your gorgeous pets!

🌡️ Sadly we are reporting that there has been Parvovirus within Upper Hutt and other areas of the Wellington region.
🦠 Parvovirus typically presents in young unvaccinated dogs but can still be contracted by adults.
🚫 Unfortunately it is an aggressive disease that has a high mortality rate. Thankfully we have effective vaccines to help keep your pooches healthy.
🤒 Parvovirus can present in your dog as:
-Vomiting
-Diarrhoea
-Lethargy
-Being off food
-Fever

😷 We urge all dog owners to make sure your dog gets their annual vaccinations to avoid contracting this awful disease.

⚠️⚠️ Vets are seeing significant outbreaks of parvovirus in several regions, including Northland, Auckland and Wellington⚠️⚠️

Parvovirus is a highly contagious, potentially fatal disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract of dogs. Unvaccinated (or incompletely vaccinated) puppies aged six weeks to six months are most at risk of catching parvo.

Symptoms usually occur within seven days of exposure and may include lethargy, low appetite, fever, vomiting and bloody diarrhoea. Here are some tips to reduce your puppy's risk of contracting parvovirus:

✅ Contact your vet for advice if your dog is unwell. Let them know if your dog has not been vaccinated, is only partially vaccinated, or if their vaccines are overdue.
✅ Get your dog vaccinated by a vet. Parvovirus is highly preventable with the right vaccinations.
✅ Keep them away from unvaccinated dogs and public areas where dogs commonly walk.
✅ Keep them restricted to properties with no history of parvovirus, as the disease can survive in affected areas for years.
✅ Make sure no one is bringing potentially contaminated material on to your property (remember to ‘clean the poo from your shoe!’)
✅ Talk to your vet about the parvovirus risk in your region.
✅ Ask your vet about an appropriate vaccination and socialisation programme for your puppy.

We have had an old grey fluffy cat handed in to the clinic. Tragically, she was injured beyond repair and has peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. She was found on Lane St last night. If you think this may be your cat could you please call the clinic on 04 5285927. We would love to reunite her with her owners, unfortunately
she isnt microchipped.

Introducing B.J. (yes from MASH!) She has a personality as big a zepplin , enough sass to flood the Nile, and so much love she could fill a hot air balloon🎈. This little lady will make you laugh till you cry and keep you on your toes so often you might consider ballet as a career. She's about 12 weeks old, vaccinated, microchipped and we'll cover her desexing when she's old enough.
If you are interested in meeting our newest little scamp, please contact the team at reception on 045285927.
