Pumpkin and Lando wasted no time in investigating their new sleeping box! It was barely out of its packaging before they were making themselves at home – so much so their human couldn’t get them out of it.

First designed for our own buns, Poppy and Pippa, when their beloved cardboard box began facing structural issues after being jumped onto one too many times – our sleeping box is our most popular product from our range of rabbit furniture and every bun we know seems to love it.

We probably sound like a broken record, but we really love seeing photos and hearing the stories of your furry family members enjoying our Purrfect Palaces creations. So we were stoked to receive these photos of Shawn and Gus.

When their mum was looking to adopt a cat and discovered these brothers there was no question about which to adopt – of course it was going to be both (a sentiment I can strongly relate to)!

Since then, their good fortune has continued with a big move to Wellington and, more recently, some of our cat shelves added to their environment.

They wasted no time in exploring their new perches and although initially a wee bit cautious about the top shelf, it didn’t take long for them to feel comfortable up there too.

We love that so much of this space has been dedicated to creating a home where Shawn and Gus feel safe and happy with plenty of opportunities to exhibit their natural behaviours. Thanks so much to their mum for sharing their story with us.

We’re still here!

I’ve been a bit quiet online but we’re still here making our furniture for your rabbits and cats (even the odd dog but we’ll share more on that later).

So, where have we been then?

I started Purrfect Palaces back in 2021 after encouragement from many friends to share our creations with you and your beautiful buns so that they too could access the same enrichment our own buns – and cats now too, of course.

I love making these, but it has only ever been a hobby – something I do on weekends (and evenings, too), alongside my full-time job – which is sometimes a challenge. When I decided to take up full-time study again a couple years ago, the workload of an intense one-year master’s plus taking care of my own furry family meant that Purrfect Palaces and especially things like social media and going to markets was the thing that fell by the wayside.

During that time, we’ve had some losses to our little family – some of whom you may remember as Purrfect Palaces mascots. Pepper, our wee black lop who fought so hard to beat her ongoing ear issues but lost that fight over two years ago now. We also said a very hard goodbye to Pippa, our wee helicopter bun far too young after a battle of her own, and then Joey very suddenly last year.

Frank and Pepper were very bonded, one was never very far away from the other and Frank took the loss very hard and hasn’t accepted another bun since despite a few attempts and so we’ve decided to let him live out his days (which will hopefully be years) as a solo but very spoilt bun.

I’ve had a few new ideas since I last posted, including one to launch soon(ish) and many more floating around in my head which I'll share as they come to fruition. As well as a few photos to share and a couple of custom creations.

For now, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has always and continues to support us, bought from us and shared a bit about your families with us through stories and photos. We’re looking forward to continuing to share our journey with you.

New couple Shadow and Zander got a new addition to their abode and an early Christmas present last year.

Their mum tells us that they love spending time in the tunnels and that behind the castle is a great place to hide out too!

We also got to test out an idea for a little name plaque that we've had for a while. We think it’s the perfect finishing touch to this castle!

Christmas’s don’t all come at once, for Lilou at least. She’s the lucky new owner of all of these goodies.

We had the pleasure of delivering this custom made tunnel, hay feeder and treat tree today, and meeting the gorgeous Lilou too. She’s a super chill bun and we’re hoping she’s going to love all of her new furniture.

Happy HAY-lidays from Frank and all of us at Purrfect Palaces.

We’ve been a bit quiet on social media lately while I’ve been studying towards my masters degree, but we’re still here and quietly working away on your cat and rabbit furniture in the background.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year, whether you’ve followed us, engaged with our posts, or bought from us, it makes it a joy to run our wee business.

We’re looking forward to sharing some of our most recent and favourite projects in the coming weeks.

Wishing you all a relaxing and safe holiday period and all the best for the new year.

We love it when our customers get creative with our modular design!

Ellie’s mum wanted to join our single story castle using our bridge to a hay feeder. To make it work we just needed to make our castle a little taller to match the height of the hay feeder.

The hay feeder is custom made to fit Ellie’s existing litter tray – with lid because she prefers to wee over the edge of the tray!

Ellie is loving the new addition to her space, especially the tunnels. It didn’t take her long to start jumping up onto the castle and now zoomies up and over the bridge every morning.

For those of you who are wondering about the high heels, her mum says “they had to be sacrificed to appease her royal highness”.

Also that the sisal rope is even more fun in a pile on the floor (while I’m trying to measure how much is left)!

Christmas has come early for Doug, Spud and Dax as they’ve just had their cat shelves installed.

Doug’s curiosity got the better of him and he was the first to explore the new feature in their home. Spud has decided that the top shelf is the best place to hide his toys away from everyone else. And, Dax is happy to chill on the shelf while demonstrating that the shelf is strong enough for cats of all sizes!

Thanks to the mum of these gorgeous boys for sharing these photos with us, we love seeing your furry friends enjoying their Purrfect Palaces furniture!

A few months ago, Pepper’s lop ear disease made it difficult for her to balance and jump. So, we couldn't let her use our regular hay feeder anymore because it was too high for her to get into safely.

We needed a safe solution quickly, but we couldn't find any low-sided litter trays that worked for us. A Google search led us to some utility trays which would do the job perfectly. We made a low sided tray holder with a ramp to make it easy for Pepper to get in and out of the tray.

This simple change made a big difference for Pepper. Now, she can use the litter tray and enjoy her hay much more easily. We're excited to say that we're working on a second version with a hay feeder, so stay tuned!

A fun little weekend project using up some otherwise unusable leftover pieces of ply.

Pippa and Joey are loving it so far and spending more time in here than their sleeping box!
