Cheryl Trust Practitioner NZ Sharing a peaceful and trusting approach to helping animals with their behaviour issues
(1)

I love doing these sessions - its amazing working with people and their animals on this level and seeing the changes in just one session! It just the loveliest way to work with animals that are anxious or aggressive, going at their pace and helping them understand life doesnt have to be this way, they can come through this.

Got to do my final foundation session with Frankie online yesterday (yep another gorgeous border collie 😬🥰🙃)

His dad has been getting stuck in with the training and has seen great changes with being able to put the collar on calmly with no snapping from Frankie 💜

We also worked on some advanced techniques which I hardly ever get to teach - but because they were progressing so well we introduced the towel to Frankie using advanced techniques and he can be rubbed all over with it 🙌🙌🙌 from running away as soon as a towel comes out - to 1 week of practice and can rub him all over with it and he is calm 🥳

That’s how effective and powerful this technique is ….and I love teaching it and watching the results

Well done Frankie and family you’ve all done so well and it’s nice to see more happy clients and dogs 💜

A client asked me the other day `does this work for everyone? My answer is `it works for every animal, but not every human`.
The reason is that people are easily drawn back to habits and find it difficult to implement and stick to a new approach.
Lots of people are time restricted and 20 minutes a day practicing for 2 weeks can be a big ask.
Then on top of that throw out all the conventional training and stop all the `make/dominance` behaviour that you are doing....well that is just a bit too far for some people.
I get it, I get how busy peoples lives are, and I get that your gadgets are easier to chuck on, or your calming meds are easier for you, but it doesn`t solve the underlying issue for your animal and in some cases just escalates things.
I understand completely that this approach isn`t for everyone and that`s fine. But this approach certainly works for EVERY animal IF the human can support them by going through the journey/process/understanding of the TT and all that it can achieve.
Our animals are doing EXACTLY what they think they should be doing from your `training` of them.
Can I help change those behaviours - of course I can, if you want to.....? Its totally on you, I will show you, guide you, support you....but its up to you.
You got in touch because you wanted to help your friend with their issues but you have to put the time and effort in to help them see there is another way of behaving. I wish I could just wave a magic wand and it all is different but you have spent months and years building this behaviour with your animal so its going to take a few weeks to unpick that.
Its well worth it I promise, and your pet will thank you for it.

It was a day of Border Collies today 🥰💜🥰 - i had an online session with Clover to help mum keep progressing this gorgeous dogs re-education

We had a short catch up and then got to start on some advanced work to help Clover pop her feet in a bucket, so she can get them washed after a walk.

Mums going so well, they’ve made so much progress, now we are just developing (more and more ) of the relationship

Look at these two lovelies 🥰 we are on a mission to get Roxy ok with touch and grooming (as she absolutely can’t do it and gets bitey) plus have less barky dogs when home alone.

Lots to do here in our four sessions together but we got off to a great start!! And I can’t wait to do session 2 with these 2 clever pups.

My clients come with a real list of worries for their pet. It’s not tiddlywinks for some of these dogs 😬
You see my photos of calm peaceful sprawled out dogs that look like butter wouldn’t melt. (And just so you know that is exactly what they would like to be, but for one reason or another they are worried about x y or z and they need a hand changing their behaviour.)

The dogs that I work with well they’re in trouble and most times people are reaching out to me as a last hope. They have tried all the conventional training which hasnt worked so they might as well give this ‘Trust thing’ a go ?

So take another look at my photos and see if you can spot the dogs that have
-aggression with dogs
-aggression with rabbits
-aggression with chickens
-aggression with cats
-aggression with people
-anxiety with people
- anxiety with dogs
-anxiety with loud noises
-anxiety about vets
-anxiety with thunder
-anxiety with rain or wind
Etc, the list goes on.

I love this work and I love how people find me and give it a go cause they have nothing to lose and haven’t given up on their babies.

I tell ya by the time I’m in your lounge or your in mine your little dog is saying to me ‘thank goodness you are here!! ‘

And then they get results - surprise !

There is a way back for these dogs, thank goodness you messaged me 😍

Dakotas second session 💜 teaching mum and Dakota how to be peaceful together ….such a special connection builds when applying the trust technique.

Throughout the session Dakota was showing how much he tries for his mum….then we showed him he didn’t have to - that he could relax and be peaceful instead of busy, and it blew his mind (and mums) he stopped biting on her, pushing her hard with his head, moving her feet, biting at himself, and he just relaxed right down.

Calmness showed all over his face and body and his frustration left him.

It was a gorgeous session 💜🥰💜

I have a very busy pup I adopted a month ago.

Our foster fail Leia is very clever and busy - the kind of dog everyone would say Oooh get her some mind games, run her 3 miles a day or 5 walks or teach her patterns /obedience/agility to wear her out…..that’s the opposite of what she needs and will only build more busy!

So we practice alot of quiet calm peaceful moments and she loves it!

She now can self settle and is learning to do things slower, her play is softer, her settle is quicker and it’s nice to see.

When you are practicing TT you need to take time.
I can’t wave the magic wand and undo the days/months/years that your pet has been in worry and overwhelm that has led to the anxious or aggressive behaviours.
But I can show you how to, over time (days or weeks) replace the worry and overwhelm with Trust and Confidence.
And the magic is in the time you spend building your relationship and your connection with your pet.
Take the time
Take 20 minutes a day for a few weeks and transform everything
It’s an amazing approach that I guarantee will help you both, if you take the time

*I love doing these sessions, its amazing to work with people and their animals on this level and see the changes before my eyes in just one session. Its just the loveliest work and is why I am passionate about teaching this and why I chose to be a practitioner in this particular training. I saw how it worked for my animals and just had to learn more...now I get to share it with people and that is such a privilege and a gift.

*If you have any issue that you may want to work with you and your pet I am available to help you. For your dog this could be any of the following - scared of travel, scared of other animals, scared of people, chases other animals, scared of thunder and lightening, banned from doggy day care for aggression/fear/anxiety, unable to socialise, lunges at dogs on lead, barking issues, guarding issues, new environment, new baby in the house, new animal introductions, end of life worries. For Horses is could be any of the following - anxiety, spooking, wont go in stable, wont go in float, doesn`t like people, biting, kicking,

*I am a certified and insured Trust Technique Practitioner. I work with all animals specializing in Horses and Dogs - but can be minis, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, llamas, cats, rabbits, birds, etc and can work in person or on skype/facetime.

*I work one on one with you and your animal usually at a time that is a quiet time for your animal (i.e. not feeding time, or walkies time) and we go through the practice of the trust technique so that you learn the technique and can apply it confidently with your animal. This normally takes just over an hour, (max up to 1.5 hours as that is a lot of learning for you both.)
