Last weekend I spent a day with my wonderful friend at Macscott Kennels prepping Scottish Terriers and this weekend I was lucky enough to go along with her to the Kumeu Kennel Association Open and Championship Show. I wish I could’ve stayed for the whole weekend, I was in dog heaven!

Wallace (who’s 2nd birthday it is today 🥳) and Spud (just a wee baby) were shown and Spud took out Best of Breed. An English Staff and Cairn took out Best of Group.

Both boys did extremely well! Unfortunately, I had to leave before I got to see the lovely Kiwa, German Wirehaired Pointer in the ring, who came in for a bath this week ahead of her first time in the ring. I’m looking forward to hearing how she went and seeing some photos!

It was fabulous, the variation of breeds was incredible and it’s so inspiring to see so many dedicated people preserving and bettering these wonderful breeds. I saw everything, Shiba Inu, Afghan Hound, Leonberger, Yorkshire Terrier, Pug, Samoyed, Chow Chow, the list goes on!

It was such a fun and great way for me to learn about breed standard, conformation and also texture of correct coats. I really want to deepens my understanding of these topics so I can in turn give the best to dogs at Tartan & Thistle!

Hope everyone has had a fab weekend 🌻

Scottish Terriers always seem to go from one extreme to the other when they’re due for a groom! Super fluffy and the next minute they’re looking sleek, stylish, and ready to strut their stuff!

Terries are just so satisfying to groom but a Macscott Kennels Scottie with their iconic shape, the brows and that Scottitude shining through 😍. We absolutely love a Scottie transformation!
