Meet Whisky – the fearless firecracker!

This 5-month-old cutie is bold, playful, and absolutely full of personality. She’s great with cats, dogs, and would do well in a home with older kids as she plays a bit rough. Nothing slows her down (not even being blind in one eye from a birth defect).

Whisky is desexed, microchipped, core vaccinated, and ready to take on the world (or your living room).

Meet Scout and Penny, two stunning white 8-month-old junior cats looking for homes.

Scout is deaf, which is common in white cats, and must be kept indoors only—no exceptions. He's fearless, extroverted, and absolutely loves cuddles. He’s also very loud, so if you’ve been dreaming of a chatty cat who’s not shy about voicing his opinion, Scout might be your perfect match.

Penny is hearing. She’s gentle and sweet, a soft soul who takes a little time to warm up but is pure gold once she does.

They came to us as a surrender, so they’ve grown up in a home and are well-socialised and litter trained. While they’ve spent time together, they are not a bonded pair and can be adopted together or separately.

A huge thank you to Tongariro Prison for boxes of surplus PPE to the shelter! This kind of support makes such a big difference behind the scenes and we’re so grateful to have been thought of.

And a special thanks to Turangi Glass. We asked if they had a trolley we could borrow to move the boxes and they sent two people to help us instead!

It's moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to be part of a community that looks out for one another.

Kitten season has slowed down, but it’s still going. It began back in November, and we’re still seeing young ones come through our doors.

In the meantime, our junior cats — aged 7 months to 2 years — continue to wait. These are the playful, curious, affectionate cats who have grown past the chaos of kittenhood but still have all the charm.

They are ready for homes. Ready for laps and for a safe place to settle in and be loved.

We are absolutely blown away...
In less than 24 hours, we reached our goal to buy the cameras, with extra to help cover ongoing operating costs (like the WiFi to run them!).

We truly can’t thank this amazing network of supporters enough. The generosity shown by so many people has meant the world to us.

A bit of a rough start to the week. Our volunteers arrived on Monday morning to find someone had broken in through one of our gates. Nothing was taken, thankfully, but knowing someone came onto the property where our animals sleep and where our team gives so much of their time and care is upsetting.

We’re a small, volunteer-run shelter doing our best with limited resources. Every day our team turns up to care for animals who have already been through more than their fair share. The shelter is the animals' safe place and it should feel that way for the people caring for them, too.

We’re now raising funds for a set of WiFi-connected cameras that can alert us if someone’s around when they shouldn’t be. The system costs $735, a one-time cost that would make a huge difference to our safety and peace of mind.
