🐾 Meet the Face Behind The Visiting Vet Nurse 🐾

Hi, I'm Alex πŸ‘‹

I'm proud to be South Canterbury's only dedicated Mobile Veterinary Nurse, bringing professional, compassionate pet care directly to your doorstep.

With over 12 years of veterinary nursing experience, I created The Visiting Vet Nurse to make quality animal care more convenient and less stressful for both pets and their people.

You'll often find me...
🐢 Running Puppy Preschool classes and helping puppies get the very best start in life
βœ‚οΈ Trimming nails on dogs who would rather be doing absolutely anything else
🐱 Winning over cats who have made it very clear they don't appreciate visitors
🩺 Supporting pets through recovery, illness, and their senior years
πŸ’• Helping owners navigate every stage of their pet's journey

The best part?

I come to you.
No stressful car rides. No crowded waiting rooms. No wrestling the cat into a carrier.
Just professional, low-stress care in the comfort of your pet's own home.

Whether you need a nail trim, ear clean, a**l gland expression, microchip, medication support, wound care, pet sitting visit, or a place in one of my Puppy Preschool classes, I'd love to help.

🐾 Puppy Preschool is one of my absolute favourite services.
These small-group classes help puppies build confidence, learn important life skills, and set families up for success. Many owners now secure their puppy's spot before they've even brought their new best friend home!

Over the past four years I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of South Canterbury pets and their owners, and I still get excited meeting every single new furry face.

πŸ’™ If I've helped your pet before, I'd love your support.
Drop a photo of your pet in the comments, tell me their name, or share this post with your friends and family. Every share helps a small local business reach more pets and their people.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their beloved companions, recommended my services, attended my classes, and supported my dream. It truly means the world.

🐾 Don't Wait Until Your Dog Slows Down to Think About Their Joints 🐾

One of the biggest misconceptions about joint care is that it's only something we need to think about once our dogs start limping, struggling to get up, or showing signs of arthritis.

The truth is, by the time we're seeing those signs, changes within the joints may have already been developing for years.

Just like we brush our teeth before we get cavities and wear sunscreen before we get sunburnt, supporting our dogs' joints should ideally start long before we notice a problem.

Joint health isn't just important for senior dogs either. Large breeds, active dogs, sporting dogs, dogs carrying excess weight, and even growing puppies can all benefit from having their joints supported throughout life.

One of the most important things we can do is maintain a healthy body weight. Every extra kilogram puts additional strain on joints day after day, year after year.
Regular appropriate exercise, good nutrition, muscle conditioning, and joint-support products recommended by myself or your veterinary team can all play a role in helping keep your dog comfortable and active for longer.

Many owners are surprised to learn that some of the earliest signs of joint discomfort can be very subtle. Perhaps your dog no longer jumps into the car quite as enthusiastically, seems slower getting out of bed, hesitates before stairs, or simply sleeps a little more than they used to.

Our goal shouldn't be to wait until our dogs are sore.
Our goal should be to help them stay comfortable enough that they never have to tell us they are.

After all, growing old is inevitable. Growing old sore doesn't have to be. ❀️🐢
