Gutted - today I got dished up a massive reminder that this pony really is still wild 😢❤️‍🩹. I spent most of the weekend just being with Feather and sitting in her space holding her feed bucket and patting her face. She was really quite relaxed and tolerant. I was able to have a rope around her nose and rub it on her face. But when I tried to put it over her head and it touched the cover she was off. She ran and it fell off and she calmed back down pretty quickly. I tried it again a bit later in the day but this time she just flawed it straight towards the stable gate and tried to jump it!! She got caught dangling with her front legs over it and her hind legs off the ground 🤯. She wriggled and managed to flip over and off it. I burst into tears in that moment knowing I had majorly fu*ked up 💔😢… putting way too much pressure on her. Then a wave of panic that what if she had really hurt herself I can’t catch her to help!!! 😬😳 Luckiky she came away with superficial cuts but she will be sore for a bit. Gate is rather stuffed. I was really surprised afterwards that she went back into the stable relatively easily and allowed me to pat her again ❤️🫶. The reality is there will be joy but also heart break on this journey.

Feather has barely eaten any hay since arriving here, choosing her hard feed and eating dirt 🤷🏼‍♀️, over eating hay. Instead she would spread it everywhere and sleep on it! 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Today I rolled out an entire large round for her. At first she went and stood at the opposite end of the paddock and was like ‘What on earth is that!?’ But eventually she was brave, got closer and then decided it was yummy 👏

Keeping at it, small steps forward all the time 🫶❤️🦄

Here’s me worrying about Feather having her cover on permanently at the moment. Probably not a bad thing for a Far North beach pony… You know it’s cold when the dripping tap drips freeze into a stalagmite! 🥶

Slow progress but some progress in the right direction 🫶❤️🐴

Trying to have consistent messaging and making progress slowly. Didn’t get as many head rubs today but got a really decent neck rub. Was fairly pleased with her today as this was straight after the motorbike was hoofing around. Lots of yawning, chewing and blowing releases 👏

Despite being a bit flighty and fresh out of the wild, I’m so glad Feather has self preservation and doesn’t go into complete panic mode… when the neighbour has the chainsaw out then busts out the motorbike along the fence line 😬😬😳😳

Had a few head scratches and got a neck scratch yesterday. Just trying to spend lots of time in Feather’s personal space and it be normal
