SH1 TE KAUWHATA TO RANGIRIRI: RESEALING
UPDATE THU 21 MAR
The laying of chip-seal has now been completed with all on- and off-ramps OPEN again at both Te Kauwhata and Rangiriri interchanges. Whilst bedding-in occurs lanes will remain reduced to one in each direction. Two lanes will be available northbound from Friday (22 Mar) however, with only one lane available southbound, motorists travelling south over the weekend (Fri-Sun, 22-24 Mar) may want to consider using SH2 and SH27 as an alternate route to avoid long delays expected through this worksite.
------
Final chip-seal surfacing will run for up to three days from Sunday 17 March on State Highway 1 between Te Kauwhata & Rangiriri. While this work is underway, southbound off- and on-ramps to the interchanges will be closed and local traffic going in and out of Rangiriri and Te Kauwhata interchanges will need to use alternative routes.
During, and after, this surfacing work, traffic will continue on a single lane in each direction until the new seal is bedded in and sweeping completed. The contractor and their traffic management staff will continue to monitor the situation and open more lanes as soon as possible.
This Friday afternoon (15 Mar) and Sunday afternoon (17 Mar) will be peak travel times. Motorists may want to consider using SH2 and SH27 as an alternate route to avoid long delays expected through this worksite this weekend.
