Photo dump!📸 Check out one of our most recent adoption dogs, Teak (was Hunter), living his best life at his fur-ever home!

From his owners, Natalie and Nathan:
"Teak has enjoyed getting to know our routine. Keeping things consistent with doing the same walk every morning and night has really helped him to quickly settle in, along with set meal times. It took him a few days to figure it out, but once he did, he quickly gained confidence knowing what to expect from us. Our older dog is a retired working dog from a farm in the South Island, and he thrives on routine, which has really helped Teak feel comfortable.

Teak is very affectionate and the look on his face when getting a pat or a cuddle is one of pure luxury. He will often come over and put his head on your lap and look up at you with puppy dog eyes before snuggling into you. He also likes to sneak up on the couch with us while our other dog is sleeping."

This male dog (Impound #26257) was found in Bethlehem on 6 August 2025 and is now at the pound. Sadly, he has no microchip and was not wearing any identification.

UPDATE: OWNERS HAVE BEEN FOUND!

🐾 Do You Know This Dog? 🐾
📍 Impound Number: 26246
📅Impounded: 2 August 2025

This sweet boy was found running along the road near Te Kuiti, Waikato, and has since been impounded by us at the Tauranga City Council Dog Pound.

He does have a microchip, and we’ve tried every method available to contact his owner — phone, text, email, posted letter, even reaching out to Hamilton Council. We've also searched the National Dog Database and Companion Animal Register, but so far, no luck.

💛 He’s a bit skinny, but rest assured — we’re giving him lots of small meals and taking extra care of him while he’s with us.

Hunter, our resident cuddle champion and office buddy, is still looking for his fur-ever home! This 2-year-old Huntaway/Shepherd X has been winning hearts at the pound with his affectionate nature and love for belly rubs 💛

🐾 This dog was found in Tauranga on Sunday, 13 July. We’ve tried every available contact method - phone, text, email, and mail but sadly, we haven’t been able to reach the owner.

🔍 We’ve also searched the microchip details through the National Dog Database (NDD) and the Companion Animal Register, but with no success.

👉 This is a reminder of how important it is to:
✅ Keep your contact details up to date with your local council and microchip registry.
✅ Ensure your dog is registered and microchipped—this is the fastest way to reunite lost pets with their families.
✅ Check your details regularly, especially if you’ve moved or changed phone numbers.

🐾 Poo Bag Dispenser Mystery at Ohauiti Reserve! 🕵️‍♂️

No, the Poo Bag Dispenser didn’t run away. And no, it wasn’t abducted by aliens 👽 Sadly, it was stolen. Yep, someone actually took it.
Just to clear things up: Tauranga City Council did NOT remove it.

We know it’s a crappy situation (pun intended💩), and we’re working on getting a new one installed ASAP.

In the meantime, please bring your own bags and help keep our reserve clean and fresh for everyone, especially our four-legged friends! 🐶💚

UPDATE 15/07/25 - WIGGLES HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

🐾 Meet Wiggles! 🐾
Why “Wiggles”? Because she’s got the wiggliest behind we’ve ever seen — and it’s impossible not to smile when she’s around!

This sweet girl is one of the happiest, most affectionate dogs we’ve had the pleasure of caring for. Wiggles is a true companion dog — she loves being by your side and will follow you around like your shadow. She’s had some training, adores beach adventures, and is always up for a cuddle.
