Renovations are underway at the Rural Service Center Veterinary Clinic and for the next few weeks, things will look a little different.
As you can see in the photo below, we have portacoms set up out front.
Starting February 13th, our reception area and some stock will be housed in these temporary spaces.

If you're bringing in your furry friend, please head to the reception portacom—we'll be ready to welcome you!

What is sheep measles? And why is treating your dog for tapeworm so important? 🐑🐕
When a sheep ingests tapeworm eggs from contaminated pasture or feed, the eggs hatch in the sheep's intestines and the larvae travel through the bloodstream to the muscles where they form cysts. These cysts are what we refer to as Sheep Measles. The cysts themselves are not harmful to the sheep's health but they create blemishes in the meat. These blemishes are unsightly and can make the meat less appealing to consumers. While Sheep Measles do not pose any risk to human health, the presence of cysts in the meat can lead to serious economic losses, especially in markets where the appearance of the meat is highly valued. Preventing Sheep Measles involves managing the health of dogs on farm as they are the primary carriers of the tapeworm. Treating dogs monthly with a wormer containing Praziquantel to ensure no sheep measles tapeworms reach maturity is not only protecting the health and quality of the sheep's meat but also safeguarding the farms economic interests.
Pop into the RSC clinic with your dogs to get them weighed and treated, by doing this you can have a proof of worming certificate! 🙌
