Busy schedule for Riverton’s Ebony Turner

Ebony and her partner Richard Collier drove their float up to Riccarton on Thursday with her two horses Glamour Extreme and Nika Deloire, also on board was Kelvin Tyler’s last start winner Flash Roca.
Flash Roca is in the open grade 1600m race tomorrow.
She won at this track and distance three weeks ago in r75 grade carrying 57kg. Back in open grade company tomorrow Flash Roca will carry just 51kg after allowing for Ashlee Strawbridge’s 3kg apprentice jockey claim.
Ebony is a former employee of Tyler’s and worked the three Riverton horses around Riccarton this morning “I was happy with all three of them, they seem very happy and settled.”
Glamour Extreme is one of 10 runners contesting the 3yr-old race. The Australian bred chestnut filly won impressively on debut at Oamaru (July 19).
Nika Deloire has drawn barrier 12 of 13 in the maiden 1200m. The 4yr-old daughter of Preferment has had a six month spell since showing promise in her first campaign, recording two fourth placings in her four starts.
“I’m just hoping for nice, honest runs from my two girls. It’s always a tough assignment coming to Riccarton, but both horses are very honest and they try their hardest.”
The team will travel home on Sunday before heading back up the road on Tuesday for the jumpouts at Wingatui. Turner has entered two horses for the jumpouts; Focus On Gold and Showemtheaces.
“They are both very nice horses going forward, they will probably go to the paddock for two weeks following these jumpouts and we’ll go from there” Ebony said.
Focus On Gold is a 5yr-old mare by Darci Brahma out of Snipza Gold (7 wins). As a young horse Focus On Gold ended up at Pinoaks Park in North Canterbury to be re-homed as a hack.
After reading her pedigree page Ebony enquired to purchase her as a racehorse.
“I’ve had her since she was a late 3yr-old, she’s had a few niggles and has been a bit of a tart around the starting gates so its taken a bit to get to this point. She does show plenty of ability in her trackwork so l'm definitely excited for her future” Ebony said.
Showemtheaces is a 3yr-old filly by Ace High out of Showemhowitsdone.
Showemhowitsdone was the winner of the 2021 Gore and Dunedin Guineas races for the Riccarton training partnership of Shane Kennedy & Anna Furlong and jockey Terry Moseley. Prominent thoroughbred owners Dennis & Sally Mullally of Wyndham own the mare and the filly.
Ebony is aiming to have three horses at the Wingatui race meeting on Friday September 4th before flying to Auckland that weekend for the 2025-26 New Zealand Thoroughbred Awards evening, where she will receive the Gavelhouse Newcomer to Training Award.
“It is a pretty jam-packed next few weeks for us, September 12th is going to be Glamour Extreme's biggest test yet in the Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed $80,000 3yr-old fillies race).”
