POLE WORK WEEK!!!
I feel like pole work is so under rated! Pole work helps your horse to use his brain and focus on his striding. You can specifically adjust poles to create bigger or shortshorter strides. I tend to use lots of poles with babys or horses that tend to get bored.

heads up to all my wonderful students this week is pole work week and we will be mainly focusing on trot poles on a serpentine and canter poles on a curve! This really helps your horse stay straight and balanced between the lead changes on the serpentine and helps your horse stay balanced and pick up the corcorrect lead in canter through a corner. It also helps horses to carry themselves properly and rock back on their hocks creating a more uphill canter! Maybe give it a go yourself! Stay safe everyone 🥰🌻🐴

I hope everyone is doing okay during this horrible time! So many horses stuck in floods. I know personally that my arena and barn has turned into my own water park, lessons might have to be postponed again after lockdown. This is so difficult for everyone, but I hope everyone is safe and dry now! 🥰🤧⛈🌻

So while we are still all stuck here lets work on our horses scope and straightness into jumps. Key tools to help with this include take off poles and high armed cross rails. Having high armed cross rials really makes your horse tuck up their knees and tunnels them in a straight line. I tend to use this on my green or young horses when teaching them correct jumping techniques. To all my off-site students, set up a grid or little course with only high armed cross rails and see how your horse is more careful over jumps and has more stright lines to the jumps. Stay safe everyone and keep fit! 🥰😷

For all my lovely’s that are stuck at home with their horses I just want you all to work on a few things to help your horses suppleness and topline. I will be doing equine theory every week on how to bring horses back into work, how to set up a exercise schedule, and what exercises are best for your horse.

This week i want everyone to start on doing some carrot stretches to work on bending, hold this for 3-5 seconds each time and repeat daily. This will help your horse to not fall out throuthrough corners and keep the bend and suppleness.
I also want everyone to work on lunging over trot poles or rasied trot poles. Doing rasied trot poles on a bend helps the horses learn about foot placement and begins building the muscle up along their back. This helps create strength in the hind quarters which help creates more power in take off in jumps. Make sure that when you are lunging over trot poles to use a training mechanism such as side reins. This is not to “tie your horses head down” but simply to act as a guide in creating the correct frame it only has to be loose enough so the horse understands the contact. This will then help your horse on connection and strength when riding. If anyone has problems with this, flick me a text. Goodluck all my off-site students, keep fit and healthy! 🥰😷🐴
