⚠️ Parvovirus Alert – Please Read ⚠️
We are currently experiencing a parvovirus outbreak in our area, and we urge all pet owners to take this seriously. Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease, particularly dangerous for puppies, unvaccinated dogs, and dogs with weakened immune systems.
What to watch out for – early signs of Parvovirus may include:
Lethargy or extreme tiredness
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Severe or persistent diarrhoea (often foul-smelling and may contain blood)
Fever or low body temperature
Signs of dehydration (dry gums, sunken eyes)
Sudden collapse or weakness
Symptoms can progress very quickly, sometimes within hours.
Vaccination is the best protection.
Ensuring your dog is up to date with their vaccinations significantly reduces the risk of infection and severe illness.
If your dog shows ANY of the above signs, please seek veterinary attention immediately. Early treatment can be life-saving.
Important prevention tips:
Keep unvaccinated puppies away from public areas, parks, and unknown dogs
Avoid contact with dogs that are unwell
Wash hands, shoes, and equipment after exposure to other dogs
Follow your vet’s vaccination schedule closely
