If you asked me a month ago to describe 2025, I’d have said the best year yet! 😅
Long term team/family members have found awesome new familes down the road, around NZ, to Australia, China and Tahiti. So many super horses and ponies have come and gone through the yard, and I love the updates watching them with their riders!
Ive got lots of super horses and ponies out with deserving riders, which gives me such a buzz. And my lesson kids are all doing awesome things from learning to jump, stepping up to gp, rising trot, to winning their first 2*!
The Autumn season (the first in 4 years that I havent missed due to injuries!) continued to build and finished with too 4 placings for all four horses at the Three Day - Saucy in the YEH, Minty (followed by a step up to 2*), Stiletto and Louie.
We had lots of super SJ outings - consistently winning and placing to 1.20 on the Xtreme girls and Louie, Louie placing in his Pro Ams. Stiletto forever a dream come true, having an incredible Equifest - an all day champion for two rugs and a 2nd.
The Autumn season has been our best yet - Minty headed off to China and Apollo VWNZ joined the team - we immediately clicked and he gave me some beautiful rides around some 2* tracks. Calypso VWNZ (before heading off to her exciting new home) and Champagne VWNZ seriously impressed as they grew in confidence and shone in every discipline we tried! Im very excited to continue with Apollo and Champagne and so super grateful for the opportunity 🥰
Louie was incredible - from 4 starts he had three top 3 placings and a 6th, all at 3*. Feeling SO consolidated in all three disciplines and more than ready for the step up to 4* we’ve been working toward for so long. Unfortunately, a few days before Puhinui he pulled up, and now he is my therapy pony. We are enjoying plenty of box time together, and Im sure he will make his comeback spring 2027.
Stiletto 💕💕💕 I’m still lost for words. Everything felt easy with her, she seamlessly stepped up to 3* as if she had been there (and beyond) her whole life. A quiet run around her first, followed by a win at the NI championships (just pipping Louie, and sharing a special prize giving with Charlotte and Possum winning the 65). We headed off to Puhinui 3*L - a huge ask for a horse so relatively green, but nothing ever felt too hard on her. She gave me the most incredible ride. Perhaps it was meant to be that I forgot a loop of simple fences near the end so no day three - my last ride on her was a feeling I will never ever forget.
And so here we are at the end of 2025 - my top horse I own hasn’t even jumped a 95 yet, lots of babies are getting shoes on sooner than expected, and I’m using my new arena mirrors for Louie and I to look at as we hand walk for 5min daily.
Luckily for me there is no shortage of incredible horses to choose from, I’m so thankful for my owners/friends for keeping me going and the opportunities you continue to give me.
I’ve had the best support through the last month I could ask for - from friends, family, coaches and strangers - you all know who you are and every message is treasured.
I’m definitely feeling a little lost, but thanks to my amazing network I’m also feeling surprisingly excited for 2026, whatever it looks like 💭🌟💕
