You Can Never Have Too Many Cats
There’s a saying among cat lovers that borders on gospel: “You can never have too many cats.” To the uninitiated, it might sound like a warning. But to those of us who’ve felt the gentle weight of a purring companion on our chest, who’ve watched a once-frightened stray blossom into a confident cuddlebug, it’s a truth stitched into the fabric of our lives.
Cats are not just pets. They’re personalities. Each one is a story waiting to be told—a tale of resilience, mischief, affection, or quiet dignity. One cat might be a shoulder-perching parrot with a penchant for stealing pens. Another might be a shy observer who, after months of patience, finally curls up beside you like a whispered thank-you. And just when you think your heart is full, along comes another whiskered wonder who fits right in, as if your home had been waiting for them all along.
Of course, “too many” is a relative term. For some, one cat is the perfect number. For others, it’s a dozen, each with their own sunbeam to nap in. What matters isn’t the count—it’s the care. Are they safe? Loved? Fed? Spayed or neutered? If the answer is yes, then who’s to say your feline family is too large?
In a world that often feels overwhelming, cats offer a kind of quiet magic. They remind us to pause, to play, to stretch in the sun and pounce on joy. They teach us patience, empathy, and the art of finding comfort in the smallest spaces. And in return, all they ask is a warm spot to sleep and someone to believe in them.
So no, you can never have too many cats—only too little love to give. And if your heart has room, there’s always another whiskered soul waiting to fill it.
