Look at that gorgeous smile!

This is Indy before and after her dental scale and polish at Spring Vets Papamoa... what a difference!

The build-up of tartar along the gum line had caused inflammation (gingivitis) and discomfort. While this stage is often reversible if caught early, leaving it untreated can allow the disease to progress, leading to painful periodontal disease, bone loss and eventually loose teeth.

Thankfully, Indy’s owner did exactly the right thing by bringing her in early. Her teeth are now clean, her gums are much healthier, and she's back to flashing a sparkling smile!

Bad breath isn't "just dog breath", it's often one of the first signs of dental disease.

If your pet has bad breath, tartar build-up or red gums, book in for us to check their teeth before small problems become big ones.

Give us a call to book a dental check.

Just over a week ago, we welcomed Loona into Spring Vets for the first time. She came in for her 12 week puppy vaccinations and microchip, she absolutely nailed it!

From weighing in like a superstar to happily accepting plenty of tasty treats, she showed us just how brave she is. We love making first vet visits a positive experience, helping puppies build confidence and learn that coming to the vet can be fun. 🤩

Those early visits are about so much more than vaccinations - they are the start of a lifetime of happy, healthy veterinary care.

Well done Loona! We cant wait to watch you grow 🐶🐾

Is your puppy due for their first vaccination or health check? We’d love to meet them!

🍃Special love at Spring Vets Papamoa 😻

This little sweetheart is Maisie - she is a very special little cat, she has a congenital disorder called Cerebellar Hypoplasia that is caused by a mother cat being infected with Panleukopenia virus (that is Parvo for cats) when she was pregnant. The virus affects the cerebellum in the unborn kittens so it is underdeveloped. Kittens with Cerebellar Hypoplasia have normal limb strength and intellegence, but can not coordinate themselves properly.

Maisie is a very clever and cool little cat who was very confident in clinic and gave Dr Cherie some lovely smooches. At home she is a menace (according to her mum) who climbs things and flings herself off, and has even managed to scale the catio netting and get out when her housemate decided to make a hole in it!

As cool as Maisie is, her condition is preventable, and the rescues are overrun with kittens. There are not enough loving homes like Maisie's to go round!

How do we prevent it? Easy!
1. Spay your kitten by about six months old (if it has not been done before you got her) - need help? There are some fantastic charities that can support you if cost is the issue.
2. Vaccinate - this can be started at around 9 weeks of age and the last kitten vaccination should be at or after 16 weeks. All cats should have a booster at one year old, and most will benefit from a vaccine every year after that - talk to us about the right frequency for your little sweetheart ❤
