My life has evolved around horses, I have worked at a breeding farm and trained many warmblood horses for dressage, eventing and jumping. We came to NZ to live our lifes to the fullest bringing our gorgeous dutch warmblood horses with us. standing at stud is our Appleton DHU being pride and joy for us along with his progeny. I love giving people confidence in their horse and themselves, bringing them too to the next level. and paring up humans with their soulmate, one of Appleton's progeny. and to top all that, enjoy the beach for a nice canter or swim or stroll... come and ride in our all weather arena, build dec 2015.

It is that time of the year again!!! Kids bootcamp time..160$ a day and we do soooo much! Eating, dressage jumping, games, voltige, forest and beach rides, pole dancing...you name it..we try and do it..if you would like to join in..pm me for your spot. Hiya! Nicole here from Dutch horsesunlimited in tangimoana...as every holiday we run a day time bootcamp for kids with their own pony...we do dressage, show jumping,beach and forest rides... games...anything you can think of..it is all in....food and stable for rider and horse provided..age 8 to 16 and comfy in walk trot and canter would be nice..have 2 spots left on 3 october and 2 spots on 10 october...cost 160$ pm me to book your spot🥰🤩

What a week we have had so far...Appleton DHU cleaned his pipes this week...using Ruby as his centrefold...and who would have thought i would ever i mean ever??? Put hair extensions in a tail??? Thank you Cath Garden for your expertise and Sloane Wallace and shrekkie for donating hair....wow!! Is all I can say....Holly you are leading me down a path allright ....new boots...new tail...what is next?? Come on next week🥰💞

Our Story

a bit of history;

The Dutch riding tradition in New Zealand

Nicole Bours was taught the traditional way of Dutch riding by her riding-school cavalry-instructor when she was young. This very strict and proper method gave her the basis on which her riding and training was developed.

After moving to the US, she rode for the Deep South Dressage Association and was invited by the American gold medallist colonel Howard Morris to stay in training to prepare for the Olympics. As her husband from that time was to be stationed in Japan, she declined and followed to Okinawa, where she was invited to teach at the Olympic development facilities in Naha to help for the Seoul Olympic Team. She stayed there as an instructor/trainer until 1998, when she returned to the US.

In 2001 she moved back to the Netherlands. Due to several back injuries, she only trained a limited number of horses there. However, she travelled regularly to Rome where she gave horse riding instruction at various show jumping stables, mostly for Grand Prix riders, emphasizing the importance of dressage in show-jumping.

Now in New Zealand, Nicole gives horse riding instruction to riders from different disciplines at different levels. The leading principle of Nicole's training method is that a happy horse is willing to work for the rider, and as long as it stays happy, it continues to do so. Therefore forwardness and gentle hands are the basics on which the horse's trust is built.
