Meet Diesel and Odin these 2 sweet pups have come into care today.
A few weeks ago I said we will have a 2 week break well I was almost right. 2 days shy of the 2 weeks and we heard about the pups who needed us.
Their story is short and one that's all too common. Someone handed them to 2 girls while they were out. The girls did the right thing they got help from their family who got help from others and we got involved. After a quick trip to Rotorua then home again these boys are all settled in for the night. Thanks again to the girls and their family for taking such great care of the pups until we could get there. You guys are awesome, if only the world had more people like you.

Pups were flea and worm treated as soon as I met them given some food and water packed into their crate for traveling safely and now home they have blankets heat pads toilet area and more. They will be off to our amazing vets this week for their 1st vaccination and microchip and stay in quarantine until they're ready for adoption.

We assume they are approx 5 weeks old and probably mastiff x.
Diesel is a polydactyl (remember the kittens with the extra toes well Diesel has them too). We learnt something today.... They call it polydactyl in dogs too.
We also learnt some breeds do have the extra toes often used to help with the terrain they walk in. Whatever the reason Diesel has the extra toes so our vet will have the fun job of checking him over fully this week.

If you'd like to help with their vaccinations etc feel free to pop a donation into our account or our vet account. Tomorrow we will be ordering more food and everything else we may need for them.

Our break has been nice but the house has been so quiet and Myles has been miserable without his friends so he will be happy when he gets to meet them in a week.

If you'd like to express your interest in the pups feel free to make contact and we can send you an application. For now however they need to rest and grow a bit before they even consider moving out of here.

Sadly Rebels home didn't work out, not because of him but because their dog didn't want to share her parents and started bullying him, it was no longer safe for Rebel to stay.

The family adored him and are heartbroken it didn’t work out. We are so grateful for the love and care they gave Rebel, which has helped him return a more confident boy, he now walks well on a lead, has learned commands in another language, and is much braver than the timid pup he was before we dropped him off.

✨About Rebel:
• American bulldog x
• 8 months old
• Great with dogs of all sizes (would love another dog friend)
• Great with cats
• Toilet trained
• Crate trained

🐾 What Rebel is looking for:
An active home with people who will exercise him regularly regardless of the weather. Someone who will continue his training. Someone home with him a lot of the day OR maybe visitors during the day like friends and family committed to spending time with him. Rebel loves company hence having a dog sibling would be wonderful for him.

💌 Please message us if you can offer Rebel a forever home where he can feel truly safe and loved. If you can’t adopt, please share his post to help find his family 🏡

Our precious Rebel found his home today with people who adore him.
Sit down this is another long post.

2 years ago (well in 4 days time) we were asked to take in a litter of pups thanks to an awesome vet nurse from Paeroa I tried my best to say no until I heard their fate if I say no so I said yes and that's how Spot Rescue started.

During these past 2 years we've had 99 dogs move in some have passed away before moving out some passed after moving out. Some have been in the rescue a matter of days while others stayed a while longer. We just take each day as it comes.
Over these 2 years we've come to learn not everyone who is polite to your face is not always honest behind your back those who you wonder if they're ever going to make good owners turn out to be the most amazing. Now we look at everyone at face value we look at the dog and see who they want to move in with.
Rebel had a family lined up and let's just say it fell through. He's had a few meetings but people have come and gone and he's never quiet suited them he's been too big too shy too whatever. Well recently while dog sitting he's had a play mate and he fell in love. She was his size and also related to him.
We decided after she was picked up the other night that we would drive rebel down to their place today. We said he may be shy at first so he proved me wrong by running straight up to his now mum, then to his dad and yes we noticed how Rebel went to his dad when he was scared by something during our visit. Causally sitting there we asked when they'd like another visit. They replied "ASAP". Rebel had won them over it came out what they would call him so we're picking they'd made their mind up prior. Rebel we told them you're not great on lead.... All I'll say is I've seen the photos buddy and oh when I see you next time we're going to have words.
They decided pretty fast that Rebel would be fine to stay so we popped home got all his things he was moving out with. We went back and you'd think he's been there for years he's so relaxed and settled already.

So here we are 99 dogs and 2 years later also a few kittens and I've decided that all pups are going to be told their options for families and let them pick because I certainly didn't except what happened today to happen.
Rebel we are so proud of you and so glad you now have a place to call home. You are one lucky boy who got what we always said you needed a big sister. Keep being you Rebel you are a fantastic boy we love and miss you like all the others who have moved out.
And lastly to Rebels family and all those who have adopted from us Thank you.

We are not closed we are having a much needed break. We're sorting things for the next arrivals of kittens and puppies but giving ourselves a few days to rest before it all starts again.

That being said if there's any animal in need to care give us a message and you never know we may be able to help.

Meet Rebel

Rebel is a 7 month old American Bulldog x who has been with us since he was just 5 weeks old. He’s watched every single one of his siblings and friends find a family, and is patiently waiting for the day he gets to call a home his own.

Rebel is a goofy, loving boy who thrives on playtime with other dogs and soaking up attention from people he knows. He’s always up for a bit of fun, especially if there’s a playmate involved, but once the excitement is over, he becomes a total cuddle bug with his favourite humans.

Rebel can be shy with strangers, but once he feels safe, his gentle, affectionate nature shines through. He gets along well with other dogs and is living with cats. He has met a couple of kids (aged 8–12) and, although unsure at first when they were climbing above him, he came over and gave them with gentle licks and enjoyed a game of ball through the fence.

Rebel is toilet trained, crate trained and knows basic commands.

After a busy week of applications and loads of interest we had the toughest decision to find Olive the ultimate home.

After staying here for a few weeks to settle in to life changes wee Rosie as she's known here got the best opportunity out. A family with knowledge of the breed and their at times quirky ways got in touch. After a long chat about Rosie's past in more detail it was decided they needed to meet.
Rosie put on a great show of how lovely she is and the family fell in love instantly. Rosie did a full inspection of the property (with me in toe) and the family passed with flying colors.

A few hours later Rosie showed her alternate personality, something that we mentioned but no one expects. We had a long talk with her new family who are now fully aware and who are still prepared for her to live out her glory days in comfort.

To her new family all we can say is thank you we know she was stressed here with so much happening and with so many different dogs around her she will love your home her new family in no time as she realizes no more crazy extra dogs in her space.
Thank you for opening up your home to her and showing Rosie unconditional love and care. You have no idea how much she and us too appreciate you caring for her.

Rosie make us proud you are a sweet older lady who has a few quirky habits and you have landed on your paws now 🐾🐕

Update: Adopted 🩷
Meet Rosie

This 9 almost 10 years old Jack Russell is looking for her new home.
Her story is a sad one so the short version is this through no fault of her own she's looking for her home. Laws need changing in NZ to keep these types of animals safe and some humans disappoint me.
To whoever finally offers her a home you will know all.

Rosie arrived with a bit of "bad attitude" she doesn't like new people straight away but has warmed up as I feed her.
Shes good in her crate. She doesn't like other dogs and tells them so by growling at them.
Rosie would be suited to a home where she is the only dog. Cats she's been raised with prior to being here and while here she ignores the cats. Shes met our lamb and isn't bothered by him either. A home with no young children is a must. I honestly think she would suit an older person or couple.

Adoption fee applies.

If you can offer Rosie her retirement home please send us a message.
