Kowhai Residential School of Riding Ltd Welcome to Kowhai farm in NZ a great place to stay if you are interested in horse riding. We offer day tours, private lessons and turnout equine livery service.

Kowhai offers horse riding camps most weekend's and all School Holidays throughout the year. We have a private shuttle for overnight guests from Christchurch (runs subject to minimum numbers) and offer airport transfers by arrangement. We can accommodate up to 30 people onsite in the bunkrooms and welcome kids from age 8 and adults of all abilities. We teach dressage, show jumping and cross countr

y and have access to over 10,000 acres of land for trekking. Kowhai is a great alternative to private horse ownership with regular riders able to join pony club, sit certificates and go to competitions. (we have our own 10 horse truck)
Weekend courses $190 child
5 day courses $435 child
You can join 2 or more courses together during school holidays to make 7, 14 days etc. We also run after school lessons for local kids and offer private lessons Monday to Friday. Farm stay available 7days. Treks departing 2:00pm Daily $90 adult and $80 child. Equine turnout livery $60 per week including hay / baleage. Gift vouchers available.

Kowhai has been running horse riding courses on our farm at Oxford since 1969 and has over 70 well-schooled horses and ponies available. Kowhai's weekend and School Holiday courses are a great alternative to private horse ownership. Courses run most weekends throughout the year and all School Holidays. Kowhai has a private shuttle from Christchurch on Friday & Sunday evenings.

📢 Waimakariri Gorge Bridge road works

The Waimakariri Gorge Bridge will be closed from 7pm-5am Wednesday 14 Thursday 15 and Friday 16 January and 9am-3pm 21 January for road works.

The work is weather dependent, so if it's raining or there are high winds and works cannot be carried out, the night works will be carried out on 19 and 20 January and the day works on 22 or 23 January.
