Happy birthday to Snowy’s amazing litter of 9. You’ve all made it to 12 months old, it was a serious shock to the system when it happened, right in the middle of our last lockdown.

Love the little ones still living the dream with me.

We’ve noticed an increase in people commenting on social media rehoming posts where they’re trying to direct every single cat posted to a shelter and we need to have a talk about it. We know it’s coming from a good place but it’s problematic.

Shelters exists for the needy. Abandoned, stray, vulnerable, not desexed – they’re our target animals.

Owned animals that are already desexed and microchipped, who are being well taken care of, and who have a bit of time up their sleeves aren’t. Those animals don’t have an immediate need and are much better off being rehomed privately.

A shelter has finite resources and is an inherently stressful place for many animals so if Fluffy doesn’t need to be in one, she shouldn’t be (unless Fluffy was adopted from that shelter in the first place and her adoption contract stipulates that she is returned).

Long story short – if your pet needs to be rehomed and it can be done responsibly, please do so. If you've tried and haven't succeeded, then get in touch.
