Slowly the earth is waking up! Spring is in the air the fruit trees are starting to blossom. Time to start sowing annuals such as cosmos, sunflowers, zinnias (inside) for summer blooms.

Happy almost spring equinox! I spend this beautiful sunny spring day rock pooling,dividing and potting up dahlias. First time I've done it so hopefully I did it right! Now is a good time to plant cosmos my fav.

This year I set myself the goal at getting better at sowing seeds. I'm really pleased with my progress so far. I started much earlier than other years I started at the start of July. For larger seeds I recommend the paper towel in snaplock bag amazing germination and the clear large plastic tubs 'mini greenhouses' got mine from opshops in a sunny warm spot works a treat. I purchased heatmats and lights but I've found you don't need them. Hoping I can keep up the momentum and seed little and often. Ask me any questions in the comments 😀

A few more dahlias arrived today with growth!

What sunny days we have had. Thank you to a neighbour giving away I think are tangelos, great for juicing. Will in summer give them some flowers in summer as a thank-you. I remember reading an article that in 1930 the government of the time when building social housing also planted tangelos and Clemintines in each back yard. How cool is that.

It all began back in August 11 2022, when I purchased these amazing seeds from Susie Ripley Gardening (and a hand full of dahlia tubers) and had amazing germinating success and growing and the following year started my business of selling spray free, compostable packaging and locally grown bouquets.
