Tips and tricks for those that have dogs scared of thunder

*Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet, cozy area for your dog to retreat to during storms.

*Use Calming Products: Try thunder shirts, calming collars, or pheromone diffusers to ease anxiety. You can make a swaddle using a scarf - photo instructions below

*Hide the noise, turn the radio or TV on to cover some to the sound of thunder

*Provide Distractions: Give toys or puzzle feeders to shift their focus during the storm.

*Stay Calm and offer comfort without overreacting to the storm, dogs often get their cues from their owners so show them there’s nothing to be worried about

🐾Who Let the Dogs Out?!📚

Our Reading to Dogs Programme is pawsitively pawsome! This 3-session term time reading programme, at Taradale Library, is for ages 5+. The programme will give participants the chance to practise their reading skills and develop their love of reading in a non-judgemental, relaxed environment.

On the participant's first visit they will be given a special Reading to Dogs card and will collect a stamp when they complete each of their sessions. Once all 3 stamps have been collected they will receive a special reward.
