A thoroughly deserved win at Tauranga, with Michael McNab aboard. She's been knocking on the door all prep, and we're thrilled to see her get the result she deserves!

We over the hill to Racing Tauranga this afternoon, with a number of runners set to represent the team 🏇

CLARA BOW (Warren Kennedy, barrier 1) will line up in race 2 at 12.36pm. A mare that was able to place at Group 2 level as a 3YO, there's a good gallop there. She's worked up nicely ahead of her return and, with the benefit of a cosy draw, we're expecting her to kick off her campaign with a competitive performance.

NITRO POINT (Matthew Cameron, barrier 2) will also line up in race 2. Making his debut in the famous Hermitage colours, he's had five trials to prepare for raceday. Another with a good draw, we'll look to make the most of it and expect him to be very competitive on debut.

GENKI (Warren Kennedy, barrier 4) will line up in race 3 at 1.11pm. A talented galloper, he finished 3rd in the Gr.2 Avondale Guineas last season. Although 1400m might be a touch short of his best trip, he should be very competitive back in maiden grade. He'll sprint well fresh.

OHOPE'S GOODENUFF (Corentin Berge, barrier 11) will make his debut in race 3. From a very talented family, it's great to see him kicking things off today. His best will come when her gets out over ground, but watch out for him finishing late.

STORMY WINTER (Masa Hashizume, barrier 9) will also line up in the third. Another on debut, he's had five trials to prepare for raceday and comes into today with high levels of education. A stunning individual, he'll be better over further, but is an improver and one to keep an eye on through the season.

SWEET BUT PSYCHO (pictured) (Michael McNab, barrier 2) will line up in race 5 at 2.28pm. She's yet to put in a bad one, but the winner's circle has continued to elude her. From a handy gate, we're hoping today's the day she gets that overdue win!

L'AIGLE NOIR (Warren Kennedy, barrier 10) will line up in race 9 at 5.10pm. His first up run at Matamata was very good, and he's gone the right way since. A talented horse, we think he'll get right through the grades this season and should end our day strongly.

WAITAK’s little brother claims the final race at Pukekohe Park in fine fashion, in the hands of Warren Kennedy. Congratulations to Jill Devine on another win from your very talented family.

The team heads north to Pukekohe Park this afternoon! 🏇

THE DARZI (Masa Hashizume, barrier 12) will line up in race 1 at 12.50pm. Racing consistently, he’s a fit gelding who will run the trip out strongly. He’s overdue a win, and hopefully today is the day.

TZARINA’S CROWN (Masa Hashizume, barrier 4) will line up in race 2 at 1.24pm. She’s building nicely and has taken good benefit from her two runs to date. Stepping up to the mile should suit, and she shapes as a strong each-way chance.

TARTARIAN (Warren Kennedy, barrier 7) will line up in race 5 at 3.09pm. A Ready To Run purchase for the team, he’s trialled well and worked nicely heading into his debut. He has the ability to sprint well fresh and make a positive start to his career.

ZEPHYR (Masa Hashizume, barrier 15) will line up in race 6 at 3.43pm. Another making her debut, she’s trialled well leading into today. She fit, forward and ready to go.

REVUE (Masa Hashizume, barrier 7) will line up in race 7 at 4.19pm. She brings strong trial form into her debut, with particularly good work on Saturday morning. She trialled behind stablemate SAJA, who won on debut. She should debut strongly, and keep an eye on her over the summer months.

CRACKERCOL (pictured) (Warren Kennedy, barrier 15) will line up in race 9 at 5.29pm. He looks ready to fire. Stepping up to the mile, he’s nearing peak fitness and looks well placed to round out the day with a strong performance.

Wexford Weekly - 27/10 | A pleasing long weekend of results and performances for the team!

We walked away from Ellerslie even more excited about ARDROBELLE, who finished an unlucky fourth on debut. She’s a winner in waiting, and one for your black book.

Monday brought a trip to the winner’s circle courtesy of CONISTON, who took out the Gr.2 Sarten Memorial at Te Rapa. What a thrill, and what a performance from this c**t! He’s a beautiful, kind-natured horse with plenty of improvement still to come.

It was also a fantastic result for our friends at Blandford Lodge, where Wexford spells many of our horses. We’re thrilled to deliver a result like this for their team. Bring on the big dance at Riccarton!

The win marked our fourth black-type success of the season to date. We’re liking the way this is going!

In the same Gr.2 contest, RIP TIDE gave us even more reason to be excited, finishing fourth despite not getting all the favours in the run. For a horse having just his third raceday start to be footing it with the big boys at Group 2 level is a terrific effort, and we’re hugely excited about his future.

Both lads have pulled up well and will look towards Riccarton next month for the Gr.1 2000 Guineas.

A week earlier, DASHING DIXIE and FIAMMA will fly the flag for Wexford in the Gr.1 1000 Guineas. Both fillies were purchased and syndicated by team Wexford, with a fantastic group of owners behind them. It’s great to have such strong representation during an outstanding week of racing down south.

Te Awamutu trials were held on Thursday, with RUBY RUSH looking well placed for a good summer campaign. She showed last season she can string a few wins together, and we’re hoping for more of the same. LADY WINDSOR also impressed, showing a nice turn of foot ahead of her planned kick-off at Rotorua on the 15th.

With the breeze-ups now complete, the team has started its homework ahead of the upcoming Ready to Run Sale.

For those who don’t want to wait too long for their next raceday prospect, this is a sale worth watching. It produces top-class horses year after year, including our very own Derby winner ASTERIX. And yes, Wexford will be looking to buy!

He’s an absolute beauty! CONISTON takes out the Gr.2 James & Annie Sarten Memorial at Te Rapa Racing this afternoon 🔥

Ridden by Joe Doyle and wearing the famous colours of Blanford Lodge owners Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax, this talented c**t looks on track for the big one at Riccarton in a few weeks time!

We're headed for Te Rapa Racing this afternoon! 🏇

SMART LOVE (pictured) (Joe Doyle, barrier 4) will line up in race 1 at 12.48pm. She's had three trials to prepare for raceday. Her work on Thursday morning was very good, and she heads into raceday fresh and forward. We’re expecting her to kick off her campaign on a positive note today.

OSIPOVA (Masa Hashizume, barrier 3) will line up in race 4 at 2.30pm. She’s taken great benefit from her winter break and returns a more mature mare. We expect her form to improve this season and are looking forward to seeing her kick off a new campaign today.

KHATUN (Joe Doyle, barrier 20) makes her debut in race 4. She's been running on nicely at the trials, and while she'll need a good load of luck from the outside barrier, expect to see her hitting the line hard. A filly with a future.

RIP TIDE (Craig Grylls, barrier 2) will line up in the Gr.2 James & Annie Sarten Memorial at 3.05pm. Aided by a good barrier, he's confidence is growing with racing. He meets a very strong lot, but we believe he has the ability and are hopeful he can mix it with the best ones.

CONISTON (Joe Doyle, barrier 8 ) will also line up in the James & Annie Sarten Memorial. Put a line through his last run. He’s been working particularly well, knows his way around Te Rapa and, with a bit more luck in the running, this promising c**t can be right in it.

OUR LURRINA (Joe Doyle, barrier 6) will line up in race 7 at 4.18pm. Another who’s benefited from a patient approach, she’s returned a beautifully furnished mare this time in. There’s still a twist of improvement to come, but she has the ability to make her presence felt fresh up today.

Cox Plate memories for Wexford Stables 💛

The team's first attempt at the Gr.1 W.S. Cox Plate 40 years ago is one that we will never forget - nor will racing fans throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Billed 'The Race of the Century', the 1986 edition of the Cox Plate still remains etched in the minds of racing enthusists today. In a battle between two Kiwi heavyweights, OUR WAVERLEY STAR had to settle for second, with BONECRUSHER overcoming the gelding in the shaddows of the post (pictured).

Two years later, the stable returned with champion mare HORLICKS, who also had to settle for second. “Horlicks was very unlucky that year. She was dead stiff not to win,” O’Sullivan said. “Going out of the straight the first time she clipped heels and dipped and she came from last to get second."

But finally O’Sullivan’s luck changed in 1991 when he rode Surfers Paradise, also trained by Dave and Paul out of Wexford Stables.

Surfers Paradise had been New Zealand Champion Three-Year-Old the previous season with four Group One wins, but came up against a star-studded line-up and was yet to win as a four-year-old. “He wasn’t really fancied and was up against a great field,” O’Sullivan said.

“It has to rate as one of my top three wins. The Japan Cup on Horlicks has to be top because it is so international, but the Cox Plate win is right there with Mr Tiz’s win in the Galaxy in Sydney.

“It’s such tough race to win.”

The win of SURFERS PARADISE in 1991 was made all the more special by the string of seconds that came before.

We wish all contenders in the 2026 edition of the Cox Plate the very best of luck! We'll certinally be tuning in from this side of the ditch.

Two from the team representing Wexford at the Big E this afternoon! 🏇

ARDROBELLE (Joe Doyle, barrier 5) will line up in race 3 at 1.45pm. A well promising filly, she's shown good levels of ability at the trials. On debut, she's out to get important experience around Ellerslie. The way she's trained, she should run well in what looks to be a hot maiden.

MOSINVADER (pictured) (Matt Cartwright, barrier 6) will line up in race 6 at 3.28pm. Improving with racing, he had no luck last start. With better fortune in the run, he can be right in the finish on a track he races well on.
