RIBKRAKA’s roadie to New Plymouth Raceway paid off with a smart win in the 3YO contest! 🙌🏼

Kavish Chowdhoory gave Ribkraka a slick front-running ride - catch me if you can style - to land the second half of a Wexford Saturday double, after UDERZO pulled off the same trick at Te Rapa moments earlier.

We go again! This time at Ellerslie. Representing the team today... 🏇

DESERT MYSTIC (pictured) (Triston Moodley, barrier 2) will line up in race 3 at 1.15pm. He raced a tad keen last start and is fitter for that run. On the back up today, he's enjoyed some jumping and dressage during the week and we're expecting him to bounce back into form today.

RUN DON’T WALK (Craig Grylls, barrier 12) will line up in race 4 at 1.55pm. One of our better chances of the weekend, she hasn’t had conditions to suit, and on the quick ground we’re expecting her to rocket home. She's worked well and is a filly the team has always held in good regard.

MODELO (Ryan Elliot, barrier 6) will line up in race 5 at 2.35pm. Coming back to the 7 furlongs today, we expect him to be stronger in he finish. He knows his way around Ellerslie, has raced consistently well all season and deserves a win.

SPEEDY SWEY (barrier 2) will also line up in race 5. Her debut was pleasing and she's taken good improvement with it. We expect her to be competitive today in a strong maiden field.

A rising 7YO, UDERZO (or ‘Udey’ to his mates), has been a stable fixture for close to six years and has well and truly earned a favourite status in that time – with his cruisy demeanour and striking good looks. So you can imagine the cheer that went up in the stands when he cruised to a stylish win at Te Rapa Racing this afternoon! A hugely popular winner and a well deserved result for a much-loved horse 🙌🏼

Uderzo was aided by a gun ride from Rihaan Goyaram.

Saturday = raceday. Team Wexford is out in force with a big team across Te Rapa and New Plymouth today 🏇

KUSUDA RUSH (Ryan Elliot, barrier 2) lines up in Race 3 at 12.36pm. A talented two-year-old c**t, he heads into his debut with high levels of education. He’ll appreciate the firmer ground, and a strong first-up showing is expected.

AL AZHAR (Lynsey Satherley, barrier 1) also lines up in Race 3. She’s won two of her four lead-up trials. She's a speedy filly and with the inside draw, she should get an economical run and be in it for a long way.

OUR LURRINA (Vinnie Colgan, barrier 11) will line up in race 3. A promising filly making her raceday debut, she's another that will appreciate the better ground and will be hitting the line hard.

THUMBELINA (Triston Moodley, barrier 8 ) is one of four Wexford-trained two-year-olds debuting in Race 3. She’s trialled and worked well in the lead-up, and is a filly the team holds in high regard. Expect her to be right in the finish.

PEERLESS (pictured) (Ryan Elliot, barrier 4) will line up in race 5 at 1.50pm. He had no luck last start, but a return to Te Rapa - a track he loves - and the drop back to 1400m should suit. With a bit more luck, he’ll be very competitive.

CRACKERCOL (Courtney Barnes, barrier 5) will also line up in race 5. The little brother to Waitak, he's going well, is a big improver and one to keep an eye on.

UDERZO (Rihaan Goyaram, barrier 5) will line up in race 6 at 2.32pm. His last start was a bit of a mystery, but his form prior was strong. If he can bounce back to that form, he’s a genuine winning chance. Of the whole team today, he’ll parade looking the best.

JAFFIRA (Rihaan Goyaram, barrier 6) also steps out in Race 7. He’s enjoyed success at Te Rapa in the past. While he may prefer a bit more give in the ground, he can’t be ruled out.

EVER CHARM (Rihaan Goyaram, barrier 13) will line up in race 9 at 4.17pm. Racing better than his form suggests, he continues to train on well and with a claim today, should be right in the finish.

SAXS 'N' SILKS (Courtney Barnes, barrier 2) will also line up in race 9. She’s performed well at Te Rapa before and, on her day, has plenty of talent. From a good draw, there’s no reason why she won't be right in the finish.

TE ATATU DREAM (Joe Nishizuka, barrier 10) will line up in race 9. It’s great to have Joe taking his first ride for the team. She’s going well and, while she's probably looking for a shower of rain, she’s one to watch when she strikes a wet track.

PHEOBE BUFFAY (Lynsey Satherley, barrier 17) will line up in race 9. She didn't handle the heavy Rotorua going last start. Back on better ground, we're expecting a much better result.

At New Plymouth Raceway...

STAYINTOUCH (Kavish Chowdhoory, barrier 6) will line up in race 1 at 12.20pm. A promising filly that's trialed particularly well and worked in in a manor that suggests she'll be right in it. She's a filly with a bright future.

AURORA STORM (Mereana Hudson, barrier 8 ) will also line up in race 1. After a disappointing debut (with excuses) she's trialed well. We believe she can bounce back into form this weekend for the TAB Racing Club.

RIBKRAKA (Kavish Chowdhoory, barrier 2) will line up in race 6 at 3.15pm. He was only just caught in the shadows of the post last start. A fit gelding who loves going left-handed, he only needs to produce a similar performance to be winning.

From under the hammer to over the line - DO YOU JUST’s journey 🔥

22/05/2025

Wexford Stables training duo Lance O'Sullivan and Andrew Scott notched their tenth black-type victory of the season on Saturday, marking one of several new-season records for the Matamata-based partnership 🤩

A brilliant front-running ride by Warren Kennedy and a dominant performance from Do You Just turned the Listed Skycity Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie into a one-horse affair.

The accomplished duo currently sit third on the trainers’ premiership with 72 wins, $4.1 million in stakes, and an impressive strike rate of 5.81, all season-best figures for the partnership 🙌

This season has been particularly special for their talented crop of three-year-olds, as well as standout four-year-old Grail Seeker, who captured Group One glory in both the TAB Telegraph and the Westbury Stud Tarzino Trophy.

Wexford Weekly Wrap - 19/5 🏇

It was a day to remember at Ellerslie on Saturday, with the team notching up a winning double – both impressive victories delivered in thrilling style.

DO YOU JUST delivered on the potential he's hinted at, turning the Listed Champagne Stakes into a one-act affair. He put 6.5 lengths on his rivals, securing his first black-type win in dominant style. That performance marked the end of his juvenile campaign, and what a way to go out! Something tells us it won’t be the last time he salutes at stakes level.

Later in the day, KING OF THE NORTH (AKA Johnny) gave connections a rollercoaster ride, missing the 2100m start and spotting the field five lengths, before storming home to win in dramatic (and very Johnny-like!) fashion. He’s a horse with plenty of raw ability, and while it’s taken time and patience, he’s starting to put it together on raceday. He still has improvement to come and we're confident the best version of King Of The North will be as a 5 or 6-year-old stayer. Like DO YOU JUST, he’s now heads to the paddock on a high.

Both winners were sourced from the Karaka Yearling Sales by Wexford - DO YOU JUST for $250,000 and KING OF THE NORTH for just $60,000. We've had two of our 2024 Karaka graduates step out on raceday - the stakes winning DO YOU JUST and PANTHER, who ran a huge race for second on debut before heading to the paddock in anticipation of his 3YO season. All of our yearlings purchased from the 2025 sale are now fully sold, except for our Noverre x Serenella c**t, who has just 8% remaining. Bought for $300,000 and boasting black-type all over his pedigree page, he offers a fantastic chance to race a top-class c**t with Team Wexford. More info via: https://www.wexfordstables.co.nz.

With no runners at Cambridge on Wednesday, our attention now turns to Saturday where Wexford will be out in force once again. A couple of smart 2YOs are set to make their debut, but more on them later in the week.

For now, go well!

“He’s trying to do things right, he’s a very kind horse and is just taking a long time to come to it in his racing. We’ve always really liked him, right from when Team Wexford purchased him at the yearling sales.”

King Of The North went from zero to hero in the space of two minutes at Ellerslie on Saturday, with a huge win over 2100m after missing the start by 5 lengths 👑

This replay deserved a permanent spot on our feed! Very proud of DO YOU JUST, who put it all together in style at Ellerslie yesterday with a commanding 6.5 length win in the Listed Champagne Stakes for 2YOs.

A $250,000 Karaka Yearling Sale purchase by Wexford Stables and now a 2YO stakes winner over 1600m, DO YOU JUST looks to have it all in front of him 🙌

‼️No Encores‼️This is your final chance to get involved with a Wexford Stables purchased yearling in 2025.

Just 10% remains in this cracking c**t that's bred to fly – by Noverre (son of Savabeel), out of Serenella – a ¾ sister to The Bostonian and ½ to Kovalica, both multiple Group 1 winners. He’s athletic. He’s tough. He’s the real deal.

A powerful 3YO type with serious presence, he’ll be aimed at the top age-group contests. He's Karaka Millions and NZB Kiwi eligible.

This is the final yearling Wexford will offer in 2025 – and with just 10% left, it’s now or never.

He was purchased for $300,000. Shares from 1% welcomed. Wexford do not charge commissions on yearling purchases.

Missed the kick by 5? No worries for KING OF THE NORTH! In what was one of the better performances we’ve seen all season, he overcame a blundered start and stormed home to claim victory over 2100m at Ellerslie today.

A big result for the enthusiastic syndicate behind him - and great to see so many of you on-course to celebrate! Congratulations to all involved 👑

Given a cool ride by Triston Moodley, ‘Johnny’ was strapped by Nathan Trumper.
