Ivy Lane Malibu is a lovely rising 4-year-old mare who has been given a fantastic start to her ridden career and is now ready for someone to continue producing her.
She would suit a confident teenager or adult rider with experience around young horses. Due to her age and stage of education, she is not being offered as a beginner's horse.
Malibu has already packed a lot into her education for her age and has proven herself in a wide variety of environments. She has also been ridden by multiple different riders, helping develop her into a sensible and adaptable young horse.
🏇 HUNTING & JUMPING
Malibu completed approximately 8 hunts this past season with both the Rangitikei Hunt Club and Egmont Hunt Club, progressing extremely well throughout the season from gating the first 4 and jumping mostly smaller spas for the final 4.
She has a fantastic natural jumping style, is careful with her feet and shows plenty of scope and confidence over a fence. She has jumped some decent country while hunting and has always approached her work with a willing attitude.
She is happy to work anywhere in the field — from cruising at the back, to midfield and up towards the front. While she has not yet jumped full wire, we have every confidence she will be more than capable as her education progresses.
With her athleticism, trainability and natural ability, Malibu has all the ingredients to excel in show jumping, cross-country and hunting.
At the same time, she is just as happy heading out for a trek, beach ride, forest ride or relaxed hack wherever you want to go, making her a genuinely versatile horse that can turn her hoof to almost anything.
🌊 EXPOSURE & RIDING
Malibu has been exposed to plenty for a young horse and is comfortable:
• Around farms
• At the beach
• In the forest
• Through rivers and water
• On the road
• Around dogs
• Around heavy traffic
She can be ridden on the buckle on the road and is unfazed by cars, bikes, trucks and tractors passing at speed.
🏇 FLATWORK
She is schooling nicely on the flat, knows all the basics and moves well off the leg. She is continuing to develop into a responsive and enjoyable riding horse.
🐴 HANDLING
Malibu is good to catch, shoe, self loads on a float, has been trucked, great to handle and is easy to deal with in general.
She is branded and microchipped.
Malibu was broken in late October 2025, lightly ridden around farms, rivers and the beach until Christmas, then given a spell before coming back into work in late March. She was ridden consistently through until mid-July following the final Egmont hunt.
She is currently turned out, having the odd ride rather than being in full work and slowly coming back into work next week.
🧬 BREEDING
Malibu is by Anzac, a black and white sport horse stallion whose pedigree combines strong sport horse influences including Belgian Warmblood, Clydesdale, Stationbred, Thoroughbred and Friesian bloodlines, with notable names such as Meersbrooke Ambassador, Larkspur Ripples and Jaguar featuring within his pedigree.
Malibu's dam is a Lipizzaner × Warmblood mare, giving her a lovely blend of athleticism, movement, substance and performance breeding.
Currently standing 153cm, Malibu is expected to mature around 15.2–15.3hh.
A very genuine young mare who has already seen and done a lot for her age. She has an excellent foundation, a fantastic temperament and all the makings of a quality all-round performance horse.
