Albert is backing up this Saturday at Trentham for his second attempt at Steeplechasing. While he jumped well enough and got around safely last week at Te Aroha he was never really in contention. Back to maiden class this week and 4000m we would like to see some improvement on Wellington's unique figure 8 course. UK rider Will Featherstone takes the reins again claiming 2kgs. Albert makes his Steeplechase debut at Te Aroha on Sunday. Unfortunately there were not enough nominations to run a maiden steeplechase so he lines up against more experienced chasers and multiple winners...therefore it could be more a case of watch and see. We'll be just as happy to see him get around safely and finish. UK rider Will Featherstone takes the reins for the first time claiming 2kgs. Good Luck Will & Albert !

Diva returns to the races closer to home this Friday for Matariki Day at Otaki. She takes her place in Race 1 starting from barrier 3 over 1600m, after a brave effort last start at Te Aroha when placing 2nd. Apprentice Crystal Lindsay (claiming 3kgs) reunites with Diva looking to go one better than two starts ago at Whanganui when they combined to finish 2nd also. Go Well Crystal & Diva ! 🤞🍀

💥Racing Wrap Monday 2 June - Te Aroha

A great day was had by all for Racing Te Aroha's Dally Day meeting on this years Kings Birthday weekend. A decent crowd on the day and it was fantastic to see many owners and supporters of Westridge Racing turn up for a good days racing as always at Te Aroha... a very hospitable club. We didn't get a victory we were hoping for, however our team of two didn't disgrace themselves. Hey Hey Hey finished a distant 5th in the Maiden Hurdle and is probably looking for the bigger fences now. He got around safely so we are always happy with that. Button Ya Lip was once again brave putting up a good fight when in front half way down the long straight before getting run down once again by Craig Grylls and finishing 2nd. 🙈We may need to travel to Invercargill to avoid Gryllsy next start. 🤣 A big thank you to Wayne & Vanessa Hillis for hosting our team while up north and Reece Cole for helping us out on Raceday. Thanks also to our raceday riders Archie Loweth & Hayley Hassman. Thanks all for making it an enjoyable few days. ❤️🤗

Albert heads to the Waikato this long weekend for Te Aroha's Dalley Day race meeting run on Monday. His second hurdle race this campaign after an improved effort in this role when running 4th at Wanganui last start. Young English rider Archie Loweth takes the reins again who did a good job aboard him last time claiming 3kgs in weight relief.
