Dog owners! Do you need advice on trimming your pet's nails? 🐕️ We know it can sometimes be a daunting task, and many dogs (and owners!) are nervous when it comes to getting this done.

Hi my name is Andy. I am a mixed breed puppy looking for a loving family ♡

My new home...

My owner picked my sister and I up from our original home because our dog mum was struggling with looking after so many puppies. She could only afford to keep one of us so once I was a bit bigger, she made the hard decision to find me a new forever home 🧡

I have been in an amazing foster home since being brought in, I have been free range with my foster bros and even gone on holiday! my fosterer says I would make an amazing companion, always listening when called, getting along with all other dogs, toileting outside and even pretty good in my crate now 🤩

I am just a baby so will need someone around for parts or most of the day to help me settle into a routine. I will also need lots of training and socializing to make sure I grow into a confident and well-mannered dog.

If you are wanting a lovely lad to love and care for, please come in to meet me!

Are you organised, and passionate about helping animals? Then we need YOU! 🙏

SPCA’s annual street appeal, Fill the Bucket, will take place across Aotearoa again this year on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October 2026, and we’re beginning our search for Volunteer Area Coordinators.

Funds raised from this appeal help us continue our vital work to save the lives of thousands of animals each year ❤️ You can join the amazing community of supporters by becoming a Volunteer Area Coordinator in your region. You can do this independently, or join up with a friend and double the fun!

We’re looking for people who can take on a leading role, be a friendly face for the volunteer street collectors, attend a training session beforehand, and commit to the two full days in October. Keen to be a part of the team? 🐱🐶 Email us at [email protected].

Got a little extra land? Perhaps you live on a farm or a lifestyle block, or know someone who does? SPCA needs foster homes for farm animals! 🐎🐏

We can't emphasise enough just how important our foster homes are 🙏 Whether the animals need space to grow and gain strength, or recover from neglect or mistreatment, having a safe foster home is a key part in their journey to adoption.

Anita is one of our treasured farm fosterers.

"I love animals, and we have plenty of space since moving to a lifestyle block in South Auckland," Anita says. "When I realised we could help out by fostering, I decided to sign up.

"At this stage we had four alpaca of our own. I fostered Cosworth the alpaca, and he needed meds to help him with some of his ailments. It was so lovely to see his health improve.

"I totally recommend fostering. The SPCA team are there to support you if you have any questions or concerns, and they check in regularly." 🩵

Big shout out to Darryl, Ollie and Johnny from Oroqi who installed the sound proofing in SPCA Wellington Centre canine and hospital areas.

Ollie and Johnny generously spent several additional days installing other donated soundproofing we received. Above and beyond!

They not only did a great job, but were sensitive to the pups in our care, working around their routines and needs.

The sound proofing will make such a difference to the animals in at the SPCA, making sure the environment is less stressful and more comfortable, for not only the animals, but the volunteers and staff as well.

We're so grateful, as are pups Guava and Papaya, pictured below.

I arrived here with my four siblings; we were surrendered to the SPCA so we could find our forever homes. I am the last of my litter still waiting to find a family, could that be you?

I'm a cuddly bundle of love. I'm still very little so new things can be a bit scary at first, but I quickly find my feet and love to play and snuggle.

I am just a baby so will need someone around for parts or most of the day to help me settle into a routine. I will also need lots of training and socializing to make sure I grow into a confident and well-mannered dog.

It’s not just dogs and cats that need foster homes – but farm animals too! 🐐🐖🐎

Animals like goats, horses, pigs, and chickens often have the have the hardest time finding foster homes, as it requires a loving fosterer with the knowledge and the space to care for them while they wait for their forever homes 🩵

Christiane is one of our much-appreciated farm fosters, who was inspired by her love of animals to get involved.

"I enjoy meeting the new animals and gaining their trust, offering them a warm, safe environment and then meeting the lovely new family once they've been adopted," she says. "My most memorable fosters would be Maple, the three-legged goat - and 'Stinky Pete', the big gentle giant!"

Christiane's message to anyone considering fostering? "Give it a go! Fostering frees up space at SPCA so they can help more animals. There is no financial cost to you and it's extremely rewarding." 🙏
