Whangārei locals may want to check this out it features 6 fish from first generation taxidermist (George Campbell), 7 from the second generation (Seamounts/the late John Charlesworth) and 3 from the third generation along with supporting artefacts from Whangārei Museum's Collection. Each fish has a mind blowing story or adaption featured. Exhibition runs until May at Kiwi North (school holidays coming up).

Big thanks to the private lenders/ex Seamounts clients for sharing their fish with the community.

A lot has happened since the last update, as some of his clients would already know, sadly my dad John lost his battle with cancer at the end of 2022. During the 2 years he was sick he battled on and we spent many hours in the Seamounts workshop together finishing his orders as he taught me the ropes that he learnt from my grandad (George Campbell).

The workshop isn’t open at full capacity however if it’s something really special (marlin with 2 bills kind of special) I may be able to help. In the meantime we have a couple of pieces here finished that haven’t been picked up. So if anyone knows an angler named Amanda who brought in a bill and tail set that had been smoked, tell her to get in touch. We may also have some surplus mounts available to purchase in the future or pieces I’ve done for practice which I will share here.

Thanks to all the clients who supported his business and often became friends over the years clocking up hours of fishing chat. He did over 20 years of taxidermy so to know his fish are in clubs and homes around the country and the world is so special.

- Alyce Charlesworth (John’s eldest daughter)

To all past, current and future clients of Seamounts, just letting you know I won't be taking any more work at the moment due to health issues. If you have a fish in process, I'm doing my best to keep them coming. Appreciate your patience. Thanks, John 🦈

Bit of an update... production has slowed right down as the materials run out in the Seamounts workshop. Thinking we should be able to access more when we go into level 3 and start working again.

Just wanted to give any clients that are facing a different financial situation than when they ordered the option to give me a call to put their mount on the backburner rather than have that pressure 🎣 Cheers, John

Would be a bit tricky to mount!

Mahimahi order from our moulds. Not the usual green so the angler supplied a photo for the colour reference.
