Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. I have been busy in my sewing room and have finished these 2 quilts. The pattern is called Happy Day, and on the reverse side I put an old block from many years ago - but it was just sitting round needing something done to it.

It has been a long time since I last posted on here. Life has been busy. We sold our house, were homeless for 3 months, did some house sitting, then 6 weeks in Australia - including dog sitting in Canberra for 3 weeks and having a lovely holiday with family - then back to Christchurch and moved into our new home at the new Freedom Lifestyle Village in Ravenswood. Unpacked everything - threw out some stuff and then settled into our new lifestyle. Tim is out playing golf 2-3 days a week (sometimes more!) and working 1-2 days a week. I go to quite a few groups - knitting and sewing - and the days seem to rush by. We had a run of visitors staying - which was just lovely - but my sewing room had to convert to the guest bedroom! I set up my sewezi table in the garage with 2 small trestle tables beside and behind it, and I finished the quilt for our bed in our new home. French Braid pattern. did all the quilting on my Janome! Am very happy with the result. I've made a list of all the projects I want to finish, so hopefully will make an impact on that. Hope everyone is well and happy. Nearly Christmas, and then 2025! Where does the time go??

It is amazing what we find when we go through the bags that collect in our cupboards!! Several years ago, I spun the yarn and then crocheted a number of squares - but never put them together. 2 weeks ago, I gave them to a good friend who is very creative with her crocheting and she added some more homespun yarn and created this lovely blanket. We both contribute to Operation Coverup - making blankets and clothing for those caught up in the Eastern European conflict. So we are auctioning this on Trademe and all the money raised will go towards either buying more wool, or towards the shipping costs.
The blanket is listed here. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/crafts/crochet/listing/4695142611

I went to the Stash Swap at the Kaiapoi library a couple of weeks ago, and came home with a banana box full of pre-cut 5" squares of fabric - hundreds of them!!! I sorted them into colours and themes and then got inspired and made this quilt. I used only 169 squares so there are plenty left for more projects. I kept this simple and enjoyed doing quilting - different pattern in different coloured patterns. And the border fabric was in my cupboard!

I have finished another blanket for Operation Coverup. I used the 10 stitch blanket pattern - no sewing up required - and it is a great way to use up a lot of small amounts of wool.
Operation Coverup is a great organisation - sending knitted blankets, jerseys, beanies, scarves and much more - to the Eastern Europe countries - especially Ukraine - where the need has risen over the past few years.

Happy New Year to you all!!! I'm having a big tidy up and clean out of my cupboard. This lovely project, Beyond The Garden Gate by Desiree Simpson, I started in a class many years ago, but can no longer work on such fine work. As you can see, I made a good start, and have made a lot of the small pieces to be added. The whole kit - pattern, fabrics, beads, and half finished project for $30 plus postage if needed. PM if you are interested.
Sorry - it has sold!
