Crazy Tuesday.

Below-zero temperatures, a vehicle that refused to start, a blocked gate, delayed walks, and me wondering if I should have stayed in bed.

But the dogs didn't get the memo.
Indiana and Kane are joining us for a few extra walks this week while their family are off in Europe (yes, I'm jealous), and Alfie came along for another walk and training session, this time at Silverstream.

Today's goal with Alfie wasn't perfection. It was to see how he copes in a different environment and what captures his attention. His focus still needs work, but that's exactly why we do these sessions. Every walk gives us more information and helps us decide what to work on next.

The really encouraging part is seeing the progress happening at home. His mum has been putting in the work, and it's showing. We're helping Alfie learn that life isn't always about being switched on and busy. Sometimes the hardest skill for a young dog is learning how to relax.

This week has also involved a few changes to our daycare numbers and walking groups while I prepare for dental surgery tomorrow. I really appreciate everyone's understanding and flexibility while we keep things running a little differently for a few days.

A big thank you to the team as well. Despite a chaotic start to the morning, everyone pulled together, the dogs were cared for, the walks were completed, and the day carried on as it should.

Not bad for a day that started with a dead car and a lot of coffee.

Happy Monday! ☀️🐾

Our fur-guests had lots of fun with the team today while I had the less exciting job of getting four tyres replaced on one of our vehicles. 😬

Looking at these photos, I'd say the team and the dogs definitely got the better deal, spending their day out and about in the sunshine while I sat in a waiting room drinking questionable coffee. 😆

It looks like everyone made the most of the beautiful weather and had a great start to the week.

I don't post educational posts that much, but I think this one is an interesting and important one.

When people hear that a dog has bitten someone, they often jump straight to calling the dog aggressive or dangerous.

But not all bites are the same.
The Dunbar Bite Scale helps put things into perspective. Most incidents are actually at the lower end of the scale and are often a dog's way of saying "I'm uncomfortable" before serious harm occurs.

That's why understanding the circumstances around a bite matters so much.

The bite itself is only part of the story.

Sunny Thursday. ☀️🥶

A freezing start, but a beautiful day once the sun came out.

The dogs made the most of it, whether that meant playing outside, enjoying a run around the dog park, or simply finding a warm spot in the sun.

As for the Rotties, they had their usual walk with me in the Kaiapoi Red Zone. Lots of running, lots of chasing each other, and plenty of smiles from me watching them have so much fun. 😆
