Spilaridge Kennels are located north of Christchurch near Kaiapoi Lakes, just off State Highway 1.

Situated on a 6 acre property, the NZKC registered kennels are run by a family of four who have, over the last four years, totally fallen head over heels for the breed of the African Lion hunter. We aim to breed for excellent health, temperament and confirmation. Our dogs have been hip and elbow scored and have achieved champion titles. About Ridgeback

This handsome dog breed was created in Afric

a to be a versatile hunter and home guardian. He's smart but sometimes stubborn, with a moderate energy level and an easy-care coat. These days, he's less likely to hunt lions and more likely to hunt a soft spot on the sofa after going jogging with you. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is independent and intelligent, a combination that can be entertaining, frustrating, and rewarding, all in one. It's important to begin training early and to be firm — but not harsh — and consistent. Because of his hunting roots, the Rhodesian Ridgeback has a high prey drive. That means stray cats and other small furry animals aren't safe in your yard, and it also means your yard should be securely fenced, to prevent him from going hunting on his own. Exuberant and active in puppyhood, he matures into a quiet dog with moderate exercise needs. The Ridgeback is protective of his home and a discriminating barker who can be counted on to alert you to trouble. He's reserved with strangers but gentle and affectionate with family members. Like every dog, Rhodesian Ridgebacks need early socialization — exposure to many different people, sights, sounds, and experiences — when they're young. Socialization helps ensure that your Ridgeback puppy grows up to be a well-rounded dog.

Due to no fault of his own (serious injury to the owner) we have our gorgeous Mr Burgundy (aka Spilaridge Divine Timing "Leo") back with us 'till the time we can find him his new forever loving home.

He will be going home fully vaccinated, microchipped and with 6 weeks free puppy insurance cover. There will be a lead and a collar, bedding, toys, a goodie bag, half a bag of puppy kibble he has been on and a breeder's support for dog's life.

He's a lovely confident boy who enjoys being active as well as snuggled right next to you.

Mum & dad are of excellent temperament and can be viewed as they both live with us. They are hip and elbow scored and DNA tested with no health concerns.

Many thanks to all of you who made the time to come and see us yesterday helping us start the socialization journey with our puppies. It was great to see some new faces as well as familiar ones and I was stoked with the weather being kinder to us than what was predicted. Apologies if I didn't capture everyone. It's been lovely couple of days and so we have decided to introduce puppies to a bit of sunshine and some fresh air. 2.5 weeks old now. Eyes are open and they've started exploring standing up on all four. Wobble wobble! 🤣

Needing to delete some picture and clips from my phone as I've maxed out the storage and came across this sweet little video clip of our Enzi at 6 months interacting with Pippa's babies, Lacey and Alfie. He's always loved babies. Waits at the door each morning hoping to be let into the puppy room. Love him 💕
