🏆Agri skills were put to the test at the Clash of the Colleges Event held at the Ashburton A&P Show on Friday 31st October.

164 students from 11 schools across the region competed in various modules. The event is designed to motivate, support, and empower young people to pursue careers in the Food and Fibre sector by taking part in an Amazing Race-style competition.

Melinda Driscoll, Territory Manager for Canterbury, led the break fencing module. Teams had six minutes to complete the task, where they were marked on speed to put the fence up and down, correct construction and teamwork.

Well done to all the students who competed! 🎉

We’re excited to be joining Donald’s Farm for Inspiring Food and Fibre Futures—an interactive, hands-on event that connects young people with the incredible opportunities across New Zealand’s food and fibre sector ✨

We’ll be running a practical fencing workshops, giving students the chance to gain hands-on experience and learn valuable skills.

We are gearing up for something truly special here at Donald’s Farm! 🌾🐄

From 17–28 November, we will be welcoming around 750 Year 9 students from across the region for
Inspiring Food and Fibre Futures — an interactive, hands-on event designed to connect young people with the incredible opportunities across New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.

Students will:
🚜 Take part in our Grass-to-Glass Farm Tour, exploring how milk is produced from pasture to processing.
🌱 Get hands-on with practical activities including fencing workshops with Gallagher Animal Management, seedling potting with Conservation NZ Conservation Volunteers Auckland, and a horse racing simulator with NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Association LOVERACING.NZ plus some others.
💬 Meet inspiring industry role models organised by Inspiring the Future Aotearoa, discovering the wide range of careers that keep our primary industries thriving.
