As we edge closer to spring and our season, let’s have some fun and show some pics!!!
So grateful to have a facility that have saved sooo many events over the years, that previously couldn’t have run on grass, thanks Southland weather! So show us your pictures and what event you are at, rain, shine and snow!!!!

Right maintenance 101 ‘the stables’! Stables are able to be used and should be as horses tied to floats on gravel, outside the arena is not advised. So just make sure all stables are left super duper clean, horses love to hide there poopies 😉

Appreciative shout out to our wonderful caretaker Dawn who has filled them with fresh sawdust!! (Will chase her down this week to introduce her to those who don’t know her, but she does an amazing job keeping the grounds pristine for us, so we need to do our bit!)

Ok we are nearly mid July and dare I say I think the daylight is stretching a tad 🤞

So coming up in August…


Sat 16/ Sun 17 August - Dressage Southland training competition ( entries on Evo Events closing 8 Aug)

Sat 23/ Sun 24 August - Showjumping Southland Training day ( entries up soon, keep an eye on there page)

So the arena will be closed the above dates for casual use. Also most groups will set up the day beforehand, please be very respectful not to use there gear and stay in the spare space. Respect all signs saying ‘ no horses past this point’ and do not go into cordoned off areas.
Same goes with a big reminder on gates, if you open it, remember to close it!!!

I know at this time of the year, although presently amazing 🤞… we know it can change very quickly. Most of the events run at this time of year because of this, will normally have ‘capped’ entries to ensure the protection of the grounds for the rest of season. So make sure you enter smartly to secure your place and keep an eye on the respective groups pages as to advice and direction.

Well hello Everyone!!! And welcome to those new to the page!

So I’ll be back into posting more of the goings on as we look ahead into a new season, and heck after looking at the upcoming calendar there is alot already booked in!!! So each month I’ll put a post up with what is upcoming and how you can enter those. We are so fortunate to have these wonderful facilities here and the variety of competitions held. So over the next wee bit, I’ll be doing some updates on housekeeping, rules and expectations whilst using the ground etc. And obviously we live in Southland and are abit at the mercy of mother nature, so some guidance around this too.
But first of all, let’s talk about memberships. A family membership comes at the cost of $138 and is valid from 1 July 2025 till 30 June 2026, which has remained the same price for the last few years 🙌 unlike everything else!!! But let’s bear something in mind, this doesn’t mean you grandmas, fathers, sister in laws, auntie etc go under your membership 🤨😉 it means parents, kids,that is immediate family please don’t pull the mick out of that! You can also use it on a casual bases at $15 p/horse. So we are just finalizing the form for this season, so you can comment below and I can send it to you once available but again I’ll post that up. You don’t need to book the arena for casual use but if ever confused just pm me
Now it is a very big arena and as i said I’ll go over some rules and housekeeping in another post.
I’ll try and keep jumps out at one end as much as possible, and will get the dressage arena planks out soon too.

Showjumping Southland making the most of the much needed water sprinklers on our wonderful all weather surface. Nice to be able to use it after our very challenging Spring!!!

Well this year is now zooming by!!!!
And how hideous has our weather been 🙈. I think every major event that has been on recently has had to contend with appalling weather!!! So we thank all organisations groups for being so awesome with how you have handled this, and how you have handled the parking and leaving the place, grounds in the best you can under very trying conditions, lets hope 🤞 for some settled times ahead.
So whats ahead for the rest of this year that has arena booked up…

23/24 Nov Otago Southland dressage training camp

Sun 1 Dec Welsh Show could be now on Surface so arena due to ground conditions, closed this day. Will update if changes

7/8 Dec Dressage Southland (Evo Events)

14/15 Dec Southland Showjumping (Main Events)

I may throw some Twilight jumping in there somewhere 🙈 so look on Gore Pony Club page for that.

Hey i did have to pick up some 💩 today off arena 😕 so lets keep cleaning up after our selves please, and also clean up you hay in front of the stables as well.
Otherwise all is good, and get out there and please do some sun ☀️ dancing 💃 praying 🙏 whatever… please!!!!

Don’t like having to write this but come on!!!!

If this is you, or you know the older lady of this vehicle, can you please be informed that you can not help yourself to the sheeps hay there, this is regarded as stealing, this does not belong to you and if happens again you will be prosecuted 👮
