The cat is a brown tabby female, with a white marking on her chin. No microchip.

The cat is a black, short-haired male. He is neutered but has no microchip.

This little piggy went to the vets... 🐷

When it was time for his visit with our team, Barry the pig walked himself over to the Winton clinic from his home and wandered straight through the front doors.

Vet nurse Jeni gave him a treat for being such a good boy. We certainly see all sorts in our clinics!

When you want to make friends but they're 10 times bigger than you… 🐾🐾 😅

We get all sorts of sizes, breeds, and personalities visit us in the clinic. Daisy the Chihiahua meeting Sansa the Leonberger nose-to-nose is a reminder of this.

It just shows you how incredibly diverse and wonderful our beloved dog companions really are. Each breed with their own distinct characteristics, quirky traits and loveable doggo-awesomeness! 🥰

This is Phoenix… who stepped up and saved a life by giving blood 🐕 🩸

We think he is the goodest boy, and so are some others of his pack from the Eastern Southland Hunt Club, who are on stand by for us when we require blood for a transfusion 🐾

Blood transfusions are required in all sorts of medical emergencies, such as rat bait poisoning, trauma (being hit by a car) and anaemia.

Did you know the first time a dog receives a blood transfusion, you don’t need to blood type them (a process undertaken to determine the type of blood they have) as their body won’t recognise the blood as being foreign? However, for any future transfusions, the dog will need to be typed and the correct blood type given.

We want to say a BIG thank you to the Hunt Club doggos... we think they are awesome 'blood' hounds! 🙌

Don’t worry, this isn’t a scene of fainting dogs! 🐾🐾 🙀

Just a whole lot of learning, some tail wags and plenty of teamwork.

Our talented companion animal vets from Invercargill, Gore, Winton and Balclutha recently took part in a two-day Ultrasonography workshop – that’s vet-speak for using sound waves to see inside your pet’s body to help diagnose what’s going on. Pretty clever, right? 👀 🩻

It was hands-on, skill-building, and yep – they loved every minute. The patients did too!

This very elderly female cat has been handed in to our Findlay Road clinic. She is black with white markings. No microchip.

She was found on Holloway Street in Waikiwi.
