CRD is a registered charity dedicated to helping the stray and abandoned kittens and cats living on the streets of Dunedin. Along with our dedicated team of volunteers we rescue, rehabilitate, desex and rehome hundreds of cats and kittens each year. We promote desexing of companion and stray cats, and aim to reduce the number of stray and unwanted cats in Dunedin. Our long-term aim is to have our

own shelter but in the meantime, all our rescues are fostered in private homes by volunteers until they are ready for their forever homes. Our main focus is kittens but we try to help with rehoming adult cats whenever space and resources allow.

Meet Shiloh!
Shes a cat of gentle demeanor, moves through life with a calm spirit. Her nature is kind, her energy levels moderate, preferring the comfort of a quiet afternoon to a flurry of activity. Above all, Shiloh adores cuddles, readily offering soft purrs and a warm presence to those lucky enough to adopt her.

This gorgeous crew are all looking for names to go along with their new lives. They aren't 100% convinced about these strange human things yet but are coming along - they are more shy than spicy.

If you would like to name one in return for a $50 donation, be first to comment sponsor on their photo.

PLEASE NOTE: Sponsorship is a tax-deductible donation of $50 to CRD towards our costs. Sponsorship entails naming the selected kitten (or cat) and doesn't ensure a preferential adoption position or serve as an adoption deposit.

Introducing Fiji, Bali, Raro and Niue

This puddle of kittens love the hammock, even though it took them a couple of days to work out how to all get in without tipping someone out! 🤣

They are all boys. If you would like to sponsor and name one for a $50 donation per kitten, please comment sponsor below.

The new Clive
Clive has come a long way from the scared hissy kitten he used to be. With lots of care and trust gaining from his foster mum, he is now the biggest smoochy boy around.
He has learnt to purr and even meow from being happy and safe, allows lots of pats and back scratches. He's leant how warm and safe he can feel snuggled up with a human on the couch. Clive loves other cats and really wants to play so a sibling would be a bonus for him.
If you would love a faithful friend that won't leave your side then he's the one for you.
Desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.

Lovely Nova is still seeking her forever home.

Her foster mum says this:
She has settled into home life incredibly well. She very quickly accepted our small dog, even offering head boops. She's more of a dog person than a cat person 🤣 she's happy to share her space with other cats. Nova and our youngest cat take turns at chasing each other but she is yet to consider her a friend. Nova is very affectionate and appreciates a soft bed.

If you are interested in meeting Nova, please apply using this link and her foster mum will be in touch:

This floofy ginger boy and his two lovely tortie sisters have just arrived today after being born to a feral mumma cat (hence their deer-in-the-headlights faces).

It shouldn't take them too long before they realise the advantages of handing in their feral cards. If you would like to sponsor one for a $50 donation towards their care, please comment sponsor on their picture.

This elderly fellow was found at the dump in Oamaru. He's in a bad way and required urgent medical treatment. He's safe with one of our fosterers (who also happens to be a vet nurse) so he's in good hands.

No microchip, not desexed.

If he is yours, or you know who he belongs to, please get in touch.
