⚠️ Rat Bait Alert – John Wilson Drive 🐾
We’ve been made aware that rat bait has been found on John Wilson Drive over the weekend. This poses a serious risk to pets, especially those who like to sniff, scavenge, or pick things up while out on walks.
If you’ve walked your dog in this area recently, please read the following carefully.
If your pet may have eaten rat bait, a blood test 3 days after possible ingestion can detect early effects—even before symptoms appear. Call your vet to see if this is an option for your pet.
🐾 Rat Bait Poisoning
🚨 Watch out for these signs:
• Lethargy or weakness
• Pale gums
• Coughing or difficulty breathing
• Bruising or bleeding (from the nose, gums, in the urine, or faeces)
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting or collapse
⏳ Important: Symptoms can be delayed by several days, especially with common anticoagulant rat baits.
🐶🐱 What to do if you’re concerned:
• Call your vet as soon as possible
• Don’t wait for symptoms if exposure is suspected
• Early testing and treatment can be lifesaving
