As many of you know, I'm currently taking a break from breeding. I'll still be sharing rat posts on this account, and of course keeping in contact with my wonderful adopters.

Ratbags Rattery in Christchurch has taken on several of my rats to continue their fantastic lines, especially the line that originated with Buddy/Willem x Luna (Piccolo, Tama, Ana, etc.)
I'm still absolutely happy to answer anyones rat questions, or help people find breeders in Aotearoa.

A friendly reminder to you all that it is pancake rat season in Queensland (and the Southern Hemisphere) so let's share some ideas on keeping our young and beloved ratties cool !

We will go first:
- Frozen tins wrapped in cloth (to protect little tongues)
- Tiles left in the freezer overnight as a cool place to rest.
- Cooling trays (pictured) suspended from the roof (bonus points as it provides balance enrichment)
- Clean single layer hammocks to rest on.
- Ice cubes in a tray with a little water to play with/in.
- pea/frozen food fishing

What else do you do?

Remember! If you have aircon or fans in place, don't blow them directly on the cage, the ratties need ways to get out of direct wind for respiratory health.
