SPRING OLYMPICS 2025
Term 3 holidays 2025. Weekend to be confirmed

A First for the South and a huge thank you to Claire Wilson from Central Hawkes Bay for letting us piggy bank of her and copy her wonderful idea.
Since 2010, Claire and Simon Wilson have opened their gates and run the Winter Olympics and donated over $360,000 to local schools, clubs, the rescue helicopter and other organizations.

Claire's intention was to promote horse riding and encourage young riders, professionals, and all those in between to have a go in a laid-back environment.

Steve, the kids and myself are keen to do the same in East Otago.
We will open our gates and run a day based off the Wilson's event in the North Island.

To make this the same success as the Winter Olympics, we need East Otago and wider Otago to jump on board

A huge part of the success in the North Island is the online auction of donated goods and services.

We are thinking the first event will be in the term 3 holidays, but to do that, we need community buy-in

Proceeds this year will go to the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust. We all know how important this facility is.

I need help with organising, with finding businesses and families to donate. Ideas could be products, produce, accommodation, services, actually anything really we can do an online auction with.. with organising judges, food, and most importantly, promotion promotion promotion

Imagine if we could do what the Wilson's have done and run a successful event year in year out with all proceeds going to help our community

Please share this far and wide as the more support we have, the better

Let's help us do something super positive within our equestrian community where having fun, encouraging riding and riders is the number one goal

If you can commit to helping me organise this then we can confirm on go and start the process, but I do need help

STARTING WEEKLY FOR TERM 4 WE WILL BE RUNNING A WEEKLY CLUB SESSION HERE AT OUR FACILITY CHILDREN AND PONIES AND FAMILIES TO LEARN

ALL ASPECTS REGARDING PONY MANAGEMENT, CARE, RIDING AND
THEORY WILL BE COVERED

I AM PLANNING ON HAVING A SET PLAN FOR THE TERM WHICH WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR CONFIRMED RIDERS

WE WILL HAVE SOME PONIES HERE AVAILABLE FOR RIDERS AND FAMILIES WITHOUT PONIES

THIS WILL BE A SET TERM FEE,

CLUB WILL BE HELD ON A WEEK DAY AFTER SCHOOL SO KEEN TO HEAR WHAT DAYS MIGHT SUIT FAMILIES THE BEST

THIS WILL BE A VERY LIMITED CLUB WITH LIMITED SPOTS

GYPSY - the ultimate adventure pony!

I have owned Gypsy for the past four years, she has been the ultimate mum’s hack.

She has been fabulous for my confidence and provided plenty of laughs for our family with her unique personality.

We have done loads of trekking in beautiful places, along with road riding and cruising around the farm. Prior to this, she did plenty of hacking, some dressage and jumping. She does love to jump!

She is very bold, not much bothers her. She is used to all manner of farm machinery, road traffic, dogs, and stock. I have ridden her in every type of weather imaginable and she has been unflappable.

Awesome, rock hard feet, I have never had to shoe her. A real easy keeper with no health issues.

When the grass is spicy she can jig-jog a bit. Gypsy isn’t suitable for ponying off as she does very occasionally kick out at other horses. She has only done this twice since I’ve owned her with horses she didn’t know however.

In so many ways, she has just been such an easy horse to have around. You can jump on her after months off with no worries. She is not affected by nervous riders at all, however she does require someone who is competent and able to remind her of her manners.

She has been the perfect, uncomplicated mount for a busy mum.
