They were hand selected for their excellent health, exceptional pedigrees, wonderful temperaments, loving personalities, and beautiful colours. There are none quite like them in all of New Zealand and Australia... unless you count their offspring! Many of my dogs train with Lend a Paw Labs in order to share their skills and capabilities with the Community. They train to volunteer as Assistance dog

s, Therapy dogs, Literacy dogs, Scent dogs and more. Whereas we were previously located in Hawkes Bay, we now call the Manawatu home. With vistas to the Ruahine ranges in our backyard, ponds, streams, and acres to explore, the dogs and I feel we have found dog paradise. Purchasing a Skylit Labrador pup is very special. I look for families that will open their arms and their hearts to these pups as I have done.

I think the niggling started in early 2024, growing stronger as the year progressed. In November 2024 I celebrated my 10th year of breeding (although I had started to lay the foundation work for what would become Skylit Labradors in 2012). This year though I reached the end of that chapter and effective June 2025, I am hanging up my “breeder” hat. There are over 300 Skylits in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Europe, and England. I loved on every single one of them and they will forever remain part of my story. Those families fortunate enough to have one (or more!) hold a piece of that legacy and a piece of my heart but I’m being called in a different direction now.

2025 is a year of change for me and while there’s a bit of sadness of letting this go, I know I gave so much of myself to it and the future holds other exciting dreams for me to follow.

My profound thank you to my dogs who have given their all to me over the past 13 years. My personal pack of 12 — Zodi, Polaris, Sunner, Jupi, Scotch, Anouk, Bijou, Kindi, Rain, Rora, Pilot and Luff — will remain with me and live their lives out on our property just outside Dannevirke. I’ll be forever indebted to all that they’ve given me over the years… not just their puppies but their love, companionship and devotion.

Thank you to the BEST puppy families out there that took on my pups and loved them as much as I did. You’ll forever be a part of my family.

Exciting News!

Today I'm announcing the upcoming planned breeding of my girl Kindi and overseas stud "Nash" for a litter of stunning fox red and black puppies planned to be born in August of this year!

I expect these puppies to be medium to higher energy labs with medium to solid builds and huge cuddly natures. I will be applying for Dogs NZ registration pedigrees for this litter.

If you are hoping to add a Skylit Labrador puppy to your family, please note that my next litter(s) won't be until LATE 2025. I won't have any puppies until that time.

You are welcome to begin the application process by completing a QUICK form application starter (www.skylitlabs.co.nz/applynow) but I will not be progressing applications to "part 2" of the application process until mid 2025 (when I have a much better idea on timing of litters and who I am breeding).

Good things are worth waiting for and this goes for puppies too! There are a lot of puppies on the market right now. Buyer beware.

This boy is still searching for his forever home. He's been let down in the past and needs a placement with people who have experience with higher energy, intelligent but oh-so-loving Labradors. A placement where he will have a job or be involved in either human activity or dog sports would be ideal.

A small adoption fee applies for this gorgeous fox red 2yr old neutered male that is Dogs NZ registered and from fully health tested parents. Currently in the Wellington region.

A Tail of Two Brothers... both needing homes in two different countries. 🥺

Meet Gryff & Arlo... two brothers (littermates) separated by an ocean and BOTH needing new homes.

Both boys were from my Egg litter (Kindi & Timber), born in April 2022. Gryff recently found his way to western Australia with his family and Arlo has been in Wellington with his family since leaving Skylit. Both are now needing new FOREVER families.

Their story is much the same... lovely, neutered, Dogs NZ registered boys who just need families who can give them more of their time. Both boys are well trained with no issues (no separation anxiety, no aggression, house/crate trained and basic obedience trained) but being fox reds (and coming from my albeit loving but working lines), require experienced families who are looking for a more active labrador to fit into their lifestyle.

Arlo has grown up around a young child and has been very good in this environment. Gryff has grown up with other dog and cat family members and has also done very well in this environment. Both boys are playful and loving with great health.

Anyone that follows me knows I RARELY EVER have adult dogs come back to me but as a breeder committed to the puppies I bring into this world, I need to find these two boys new families that will give them the life they deserve.

Unfortunately the breeding of Kindi & Nash did not take place this week. Kindi had come into season early and then sped to "the top" (hormone wise) before all ducks could get in a row. I have a self-imposed protocol since the Covid days that I need to have 75% of a planned breeding reserved prior to that breeding taking place. Unfortunately that mark was not reached either so I made the decision to not gamble on the breeding at this time.

With our property being under construction for the next year(+), the dogs and I will be taking a bit of a break so that we can focus on our future.

I am tentatively planning my next litter(s) to go home in late 2025 but won't be announcing those planned breedings until the end of this year.

So if you are hoping for a Skylit puppy, this is a good time to start the application process so that you are good to go when my next planned breeding(s) are announced. I only have a limited number of puppies each year and receive far more applications than available puppies. Those that are pre-approved end up with more options available to them.

This gorgeous girl has said "time is of the essence" if you want to get on her reservation list. Kindi has actually come into season EARLY and breeding will be taking place shortly for a litter to be born in late September, going home late November/early December... just in time for GREAT summer weather!

Besides lounging by the fire, stealing oranges out of our orchard and relentlessly keeping watch of the sheep, all of our dogs train with Lend a Paw Labs in order to share their skills and capabilities with the Community. They train to volunteer as either Service dogs, Therapy dogs, Search and Rescue dogs, Literacy dogs, or Scent dogs. Purchasing a Skylit Labrador pup is very special.
