Meet Piper, the sweetest bundle of golden retriever love you could ever meet, who I’ve had the great joy to have as a super photogenic model on our outings this week. The blossoms are all still out at the parks we visited near Piper’s home, so we took full advantage of that. Piper is absolutely adorable, I feel so blessed to be her new dog walker. Just had a meet and greet with two lovely ladies who'd been ringing every cattery in Christchurch trying to book Christmas cat care.

Every. Single. One. Full.

This happens every year, and honestly? Their sweet kitty is probably relieved.

Some cats are completely fine in catteries. This particular kitty had a sister she used to go with and seemed quite happy to go together with her. However now she is having some health concerns and isn't really herself at the moment. She is quite timid naturally, and taking anxious cats out of their home environment - even to the nicest cattery - causes stress that can affect their immune system, eating habits, and behaviour for days after you return.

In-home cat sitting means:

- Your cat stays in their familiar territory
- No stress from travel or new environments
- They keep their favourite sleeping spots
- All their comforting scents stay the same
- You get photo updates showing them relaxed at home

Meet Winston, the sweet, smart, hilarious little labradoodle puppy I’ve had the great joy of starting visits with this week. Winston had his first puppy class last night and so we practised what he’d been taught today, he’s just so clever, I can’t believe how fast he’s picked up simple commands. I just know he’s going to pass puppy school with flying colours!

Today was my first outing with Ollie, who has been adopted into his new home through Greyhounds as Pets. Now retired, he has spent the past five months settling in with his new parents, who love him dearly, and treat him like the goodest of all good boys that he is. Ollie’s gentle, calm nature was contagious, and his excitement to see me on only our second meeting was just so endearing. I am absolutely in love with you already Ollie. Can’t wait to see you again very soon!

I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with one of my dearest friends, Sam the spoodle. I’ve been having adventures with this sweet soul since she was just eight years old, she’s now 16 and still loves our outings to visit the swans near her home. We move a little slower these days, which gives us the time to fully take in the beauty of the peaceful surroundings down at the reserve. Long may we continue to enjoy each others company, and have peaceful adventures together in all our most favourite spots 🌿

Today I had what I thought was the genius idea of bringing a pram along for our outing with Dusty, so I could push him in that while his sister ran around and tired herself out. I put a blanket and a snuffle mat in there to keep him entertained on the walk. However, I underestimated Dusty‘s size and he was way too big for it! So V1 of operation puppy pram has failed. As luck would have it, Dusty is healing very well, so we all went for a trip to the lakes. There Sandy was able to run around off leash on the hills on the way in, and I was able to take them for a wee splash down by the lakes, where it is on leash only for dogs. That way the swans and their babies were able to swim away safely as we approached, and we were able to admire them from a distance. Sandy wasn’t quite sure what to make of the lakes and had a quick sniff, then hid behind me peeking out at her brother the rest of the time! Perfect spring day for it 🌞

Meet Uni, the Very Important Unicorn who was my practice patient this weekend for my refresher course with PET First Aid & Training. In the background is Ammo, who was just the goodest of all good boys, enduring strangers finding his pulse, tag team bandaging his ears and paws, and emergency muzzling him with a piece of gauze. I think he was pretty relieved when we practiced CPR on the dummy to the right and not him though! He spent the rest of the day offering us his toy, and gazing up at us from under the table. We all fell in love with you, Ammo. I highly recommend this in-depth course for peace of mind you would know what to do in an emergency with your dear friends. Let’s hope I never need it!
