🎂We Are One!! 🎂

Wow I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since we’ve opened! And what a year it has been.

Like most of my crazy ideas, this one came to life over a glass of wine one night in early March 2024. “Let’s start a vet clinic” - Words I’ve uttered many times to Abram in the past but there was always some reason not to. I didn’t quite realise that this was the time where we finally ran out of excuses.
We didn’t know what, how or where this clinic will be, or even what it would be called - but I remember saying that I think we need about 5 months so we can probably open on the first of August. Only now in hindsight I realise how rediculous that timeline was, but we did it anyway - and we have a long list of people to thank, who believed in us and helped make our clinic possible!

It has been one of the toughest but most rewarding years of my life!

To our surprise, there was no shortage of people who were willing to support and trust us before we even opened our doors - and we can’t thank you enough!

In the last 12 months, I got to meet over 1500 of your lovely pets! I’ve been supported by an incredibly skilled and resilient team who cares as deeply as I do and who have gone above and beyond to save lives time and time again!

I really couldn’t be prouder of the service we have been able to provide 🥲

Thank you so much for all your support, smiles, wagging tails and being a part of our story.

Here’s to year two 🥂🍾
With love, Ebeneze

A film about three teenagers who choose to spend an unconventional “gap year” learning to dog sled and survive the Arctic wilderness, in hopes of finding connection and meaning in the modern world.

At Takurua Vets we absolutely love using local anaesthetic for just about every procedure from cat neuters to complex dentistry! In recent years I’ve had a few hand surgeries that was done awake and under local anaesthetic alone. I didn’t feel a thing 🥳 I believe that we can give our patients the same benefit and comfort during otherwise painful procedures - Dr Ebeneze

The WSAVA Global Pain Council provides us with analgesia recommendations for all neuters—A multimodal protocol consisting of an opioid, an NSAID, and local anaesthesia.

What are the benefits to the patient of including all three?

✨Improved patient comfort post-op
✨Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS)

Ralph!

Wee Ralph arrived at our centre after being surrendered due to an injury to his front left paw. After having surgeries and physio sessions he has been available for adoption for a little while now, still waiting for his perfect home. Ralph has to be kept as an inside only guy as the injury to his paw makes it hard for him to be able to get around. He is a super smoochy guy that loves a good snuggle and can make enough biscuits to keep your heart full for a very long time 💕

At Takurua Vets we try to make every visit as comfortable as possible for our furry friends. Older dogs often struggle on slippery floors so we’re rolling out the red (well pink and blue) carpet to help them confidently walk into our clinic ♥️
Remember to book your older pets in for a health check if they haven’t had one in the last 6 months - give us a call on 03 925 9080 or book online
