Update time once again. Life’s been a bit dramatic and busy lately. I lost my job due to financial constraints for the company, this was an extremely difficult decision for the owner and my boss and I harbour no hard feelings about that at all as times are tough for everyone and business like dog groomers feel the brunt of that harder than most. My partner and I decided to find the silver lining and go on a week long road trip where we went to the Blue Mountains, Canberra and Melbourne while we had the opportunity and it was great to see some places I’ve never been to before. Before all of that though there was another positive, we moved into our own rental with no flatmates. Safe to say life since my last update has been all over the place but it’s never going to be smooth sailing, that’s what makes things like moving overseas an adventure.

Hello Hello!! It’s been a while since I’ve updated you guys on how things are going so here you go and get ready since this is a long one. My partner and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary this week so we went away for the weekend to celebrate, our chosen activity for this year was whale watching and to say we had a lot of luck is an understatement. We saw 3 or 4 whales all jumping in and out of the water and playing around. I also went on a cruise that was paid for by my amazing boss as a work trip for my co workers and they kindly invited me along so obviously I said yes (those of you who know me know how big of a deal that is). We’ve also just been looking around the city trying to find some spots we can frequent and we’ve definitely found a couple so far but our search is far from over. I’ve been missing all of your dogs a lot recently so if I haven’t messaged yet keep an eye out for a message from me checking in on how they’re doing as well as you of course. I’ve also seen you can now comment pictures on a post on Instagram so feel free to show me your fur babies, same goes for Facebook, you’ve obviously been able to do that for a while now but I’ll never say no to pictures of your fur babies whether I’ve met them or not 😂 till the next post (hopefully a lot sooner than this one was 😅)

Hello hello, it’s the first of what I hope are many update posts for all of you who were wanting them 😊
It’s been two weeks since moving to new castle and to say a lot has happened is an understatement. There’s of course been lots of exploring and lots of life admin that comes with moving countries but the biggest thing is I have a job already and it involves working dogs!! I am lucky enough to be working at as a daycare assistant/bather & blow dryer, while it is different to being out and about with your dogs on fun adventures it’s been fun. There of course has been a bit of a learning curve with the bathing and blow drying side of things but no complaints about that from me as learning to groom is something that has crossed my mind a lot over the last few years. I have included some images of our explorations so far and hope to have even more to show you guys in the next update. It goes without saying that I miss all of my doggy friends back in nz a lot and have been thinking about them a lot so rest assured I haven’t forgotten about them. I also want to mention I’m hoping to start posting on my stories again soon whenever I’m able to so keep an eye out for them. Till the next update 😊

Today was my last day running Shayde’s Doggy Adventures for the foreseeable future. This has been an amazing experience and journey, I never thought this little experiment would grow as much as it did and I am forever grateful to everyone for their part in that. I owe a big thank you especially to all of you who trusted me enough to take your fur babies on some fun adventures, and I will miss them a lot no matter whether they have been with me since the beginning or just a few months. I will post the occasional life update so those of you who wish to keep up with my next adventure can do so. No one likes goodbyes so as the saying goes this is just see you later (possibly with more fun things to offer, you never know what I’ll learn over in New Castle) ❤️😊

It’s crunch time!!! 🚨

Our rescue centre has been sold, our lease expires in 65 days & we have no place to go!

We have been searching high & low for another property to lease but we have had zero luck & time is fast running out.

We currently lease an 820sqm concrete sealed section in industrial Woolston with a small garage & office. This costs us $3900 per month to lease. While ideally we want to grow in size, in these uncertain times we have to be realistic. Donations are down by more than $40,000 in the past year so a lease of this size is not going to be sustainable.

Christchurch is a small place. We all know someone who knows someone. So we are calling in all favours & putting this alert out to anyone & everyone. If you have never shared one of our posts before, please make this the first!

Calling all estate agents, real estate tycoons, & land bankers. Everyone’s whose brother or sister is into property. Your rich uncle Arthur who likes dogs, the mayor, King Chuck? SPREAD the WORD! Please help us find somewhere suitable to go.

CBBR has always been the shelter a community built & now we need your help to build another one. Shutting up shop is not an option. The dogs need us! ❤️

I’m writing this with very mixed emotions. On Saturday April 18th 2026 I’ll be moving to Australia which means Shayde’s Doggy Adventures will be closing down, this was an extremely difficult decision but unfortunately it had to be made. My amazing partner of nearly 10 years has been over there working for the last 10-11 months and it has been extremely difficult being apart so the time has come for me to join him over there while he works to give us a better future. My last day of availability is Friday April 10th. I adore all of the dogs that come on adventures with me as if they were my own so I will very much miss them but you never know what the future will bring so in a few years Shayde’s Doggy Adventures may be back better than ever and ready for anyone who is wanting to re join the crew. I will put up a post during the week of my move saying goodbye properly but for now let’s make the most of the time left. I can say for sure I will be keeping this account open and will be occasionally posting updates for those of you who are interested in keeping up with what I’m doing but don’t follow my personal account.

Always wanted to know what it would be like to be a tattoo artist? You may get that chance through CBBR but it takes a little bit of money to get this sorted so if you can and want to why not donate? Link in the comments of original post 😊

It takes money to make money right?
Well this next idea does!

We’re needing the initial set up $$ to run some events where you get to be a tattoo artist (not on real people).

Once we have the machines and set up then it can be run a few times a year at very little cost… essentially setting up for the future 🥰

I stay away from using AI to create content but the current trend of getting ChatGPT to create a caricature of you based on what you tell it about yourself and your job was too fun not to join in on and the results were pretty good so I had to give them a permanent spot on my account. You can rest assured everything else I post that is created by me unless otherwise stated 😊
