Last weekend I hosted overnight guests at The Pocket Farm for my first ever ‘Germination & Growth ’ retreat.
It all appeared to come together quite spontaneously; But I came to realise I’ve actually spent months (if not years) pondering this experience in my mind, gently nurturing the thought of what and how this retreat opportunity might look and feel like when the time came for it to emerge.
In realisation I was completely thrilled with the way it unfurled and evolved as a combination of The Pocket Farm guest experience combined with sessions of guided yoga Nidra, restorative yoga, a tiny bit of vinyasa, strolls in nature, time in water, great food and lots of rest and relaxation, all the while gently encouraging the emergence of my guests intentions and goals for the future.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for the weekend to be more successful and fulfilling; I’m so very proud of the safe space The Pocket Farm provided and the growth and insight the experience brought my guests.
Moving forward I plan to be offering this as a bookable overnight or two day experience.
In a thrilling turn of events I’ve already been invited south to a stunning venue just beyond Queenstown, to host my second event this coming weekend….
If you’re curious about booking for the future please feel free to send me a message.

Six months ago I was almost 1 year into recovering from a head injury and there were still days I couldn’t drive, read, find words when I needed them, or imagine ever being able to hold space for others in The Pocket Farm yoga studio again.
Tonight I feel incredibly fortunate to be returning to the mat in order to guide private clients through a very special 1.5 h restorative yoga practice.
My mantra for the evening: Allow yourself the time you need to heal & the change you need will follow.
And with that in mind, please feel free to DM me if you think you’d like to come and enjoy some time on the mat in the future. I’ll be offering private class $60 for up to, 2 guests (use of props included) and if interest permits will return to offering Wed evening group class $25 pp (use of props included).

There’s a great one woman reno page I follow, and her tag line is “Watch out for your single friends, they’re probably doing something hazardous” and while this wasn’t all that hazardous (unless you like your back), it demonstrates exactly the impatience and independence that other page celebrates! Personally I think the best feature of this reel is that it’s a masterclass in using rugs to move heavy stuff with ease, and a shining example of “I might be on my own again, but I don’t need anyone else to get this s**t done” energy (and yes, I do know there are plenty of helpers I could have called, had I chosen to). The biggest surprise for me was: I’m really enjoying the table in this spot (I’m quietly tempted to consider it as a permanent fixture, although the first food spill on that rug will be bound to change my mind). The other great news is: This is my final fortnight of building site living! This move is actually stage one of my prep for a busy week + a new floor being laid in this room in three days time 🍾. If nothing else: Take this as my example of how functional and in flux doesn’t mean you have to live in ugly, you just have to think about how to use your resources differently.

What a difference a week or two (and 300kg of soil, stones and bloody hard graft) makes. To say I’m very relieved that the revolting mud pit that was temporarily known as my garden, has now been dug out and restored; and that the hen pen is no longer being used as a builder’s yard… is an understatement (I’m sure Hops, Hazy and Porter agree!)…. Two months down and only tge new floor and some painting to go… 😅

To everyone out there who has ever had the pleasure of loving, nurturing and cherishing another, or being loved, nurtured and cherished by someone else…
There are so many versions of Mothering; But every single one carries an imprint on our hearts forever♥️
Here’s to the mums, the one day to be mums, the mums for who the time together was too short, the dads who provide the mum love, and the mums who have really hairy, fury, fluffy, four legged loves like me. Keep up the good work, it certainly takes courage but your love is what keeps the world turning.

Tuesday the 28th was quite possibly the nicest day I’ve had all year! Which was a good thing since it was my Birthday and I worked pretty darn hard to celebrate it in great style. It was a day of feasting and indulgence, starting with honey crumpets at dawn, and finishing with plum and lemon curd birthday doughnuts at midnight. Somehow I also managed to squeeze in a trip to the hairdressers, a round of oysters, champagne and fries in the Lyttelton sun, a phenomenal massage at my favourite day spa and a truly stunning, combined family birthday dinner with my sisters partner Adam at my all time favourite restaurant 5th Street (yes we have the same birthday).
I can safely say my current trip around the sun has definitely started in the fashion I mean for it to continue! Thank you to everyone involved in making the day so special and to all of you who took a moment to send or share the ♥️ lifeisgood
